Ah yes. The force will guide DTG to not release a summer update riddled with bugs and not make the game unplayable.

Yeah, but we're not going down the path of what colour wand they have, of course it's likely a pink one if Matt has anything to say about it

(Some might say this conversation is descending into anarchy)

This is a good reason to now change the frequency of the roadmap to quarterly. Less possibilities to make errors. Problem solved. :)

I don´t think that they will make changes deep enough for a proper TSW 3 to be born. They could still be following the TSC/TS20xx model to sightly change something for an opportunity to sell the same product again but rebranded.

UE5? I think they are in 4.26 currently or something. They made us pay for the upgrade from 4 to that version. They will probably make us pay when they upgrade to 5 as well. So it is probably a couple years to go until we get there.

4.13 to 4.26 which was purportedly a big leap in development between the two

I would rather have dtg test and make dlc that work all the articles rush hour busy commuter route with all the passengers going to be amazing yet they produced a route that was far to memory intensive before adding in passengers i don't care about passengers but stating a point there are still lots of people wanting it as it was hyped up but failed

And 5 years in most games is the end so dtg have had plenty of time to sort things out so what you are saying is that we need to give them all the time in the world for then to make good dlc that have nearly no bugs

5 years for a train sim is next to nothing. And no game in the history of video games has had nearly no bugs. Your expectations are too high

Most games have bugs but the amount dtg have in every dlc is huge
5 years for max 50 miles of route 2 massive upgrades you should be expecting much more froma train game
    Not big commuter lines
Still has yet to attract pc players

Have you even played any other video game?
I'm a PC player and I'm attracted to the game, as are many others in the forums (or do you just think we all hang around the PC forum too pretend we have gaming PCs?). If you mean it hasn't broken main stream gaming then you are correct but it never will. Rail Sims are a niche market. That's the stone cold facts.

More people spend more time with the TSC program open than they do with the TSW program open. Given this could include people spending dozens of hours trying to get a single scenario to work in scenario planner (been there done that) whereas in TSW the average run is half an hour it's not a balanced comparrison

So, get the number of PC players, multiply by three, then compare to PC only TSC players... Then you have a fair comparrison

TSW3, an irresponsible guess, is likely to update the engine to Unreal 5, fix various bugs that were not fixed before, and develop a longer mileage DLC route to "bring the surrounding scenery closer to reality", "more realistic Sound and Operation", "Stronger AI and Player Interaction", "Better Reflect the Charm of the Train and the Driving Feeling of the Driver".

You know people can play both TSC and TSW don't you? I mean I play both equally. TSC is far more hardcore, lower graphics and longer runs (atleast the routes I do). Many long term TSC players have massive collections and even if they do own TSW2 do you really think we are going to write off out investment in TSC move over 100% to TSW.

If you think the bugs are bad in TSW then I pray you don't try some TSC routes which have major game play breaking bugs which will never be fixed.

Right, for those that keep regurgitating Unreal 5. Park it, its not happening. Just because someone released a nice station video it doesnt mean DTG are salivating over a build now.

Theyve said numerous times, its years away. Imagine if tomorrow all combustion vehicles were banned and you had to use electric because nothing else worked. Systems globally would crumble.

Thats the same with unreal 5. Its a current gen breaker if you want that station demo,.

Personally, I don't expect much from this "TSW3". I guess it might just be a regular update with a few new features, but nothing too major.

Certainly not another UE version. I believe they've learned their lesson with the previous update and the whole preserved collection update that still isn't completely finished...

That's fair. Console is a bigger market generally

I remember when UE5 was talked about before and Matt said ‘it would be like picking a house up and putting it down in a new location’ or something along those lines , so I don’t think UE5 could happen this year

Thanks, everyone for noticing my *ahem* deliberate mistake.

Just promise me you'll act surprised when something more official comes along.

As you'll have probably guessed, I won't be providing any more information (unless another rogue Teams message shows up on stream) until any official announcements.

I don't understand why people think UE5 is like a new game engine, it isn't. Using UE5 doesn't mean you have to use all the new features.
"Unreal Engine 5 is backward-compatible with projects created in Unreal Engine 4.26, 4.27, and UE5 Early Access."
Falling behind will make an upgrade in the future even more difficult.

The question is rather which console that has support for UE5 at this time. A large part of DTG's marked might still use consoles that doesn't support it.

And I don't understand why people are surprised with a new version called "TSW3", I'm sure there will be 4,5, etc. if they do not change the name completely..

Look up a couple posts lol. This is quite exciting!

Should this become the official TSW3 speculation thread?

    Hopes/wishes/dreams:

Dispatcher improvements- number one in my book, and would have the biggest impact on gameplay.

Memory optimization- crucial to having more and smarter AI traffic.

Route modularity- I hope TSW3 routes are designed to fit together where appropriate.

Improved/more immersive railway operations- i'm most familiar with US Freight where MU/DPU operations are not simulated anywhere near reality. Also cab signals, coupling, etc. I'm sure there are similar issues with other railway systems.

    Lighting and Sound improvements

Scenario planner 2.0 with consist editor and much more functionality.

Well, if there really is a new game my journey with TSW's gonna end up taking at least a long pause. It took several months and a half-off sale to convince me to upgrade the first time, and I don't see myself doing different this time.

More rumours (strong source) are that both the routes currently on the roadmap (german & US routes) ARE for TSW3 (Full confirmation hopefully to come in due course)

Still so many things to fix in TSW2 and yet they already started to think about TSW3.

Big no no for me unless all their current addons & DLC get ported to TSW3 and automatically downloaded for those who already have it in TSW2

I can't believe that DTG wouldn't port over the majority of routes onto TSW3. There might be the odd exception where its not possible. I have a feeling that the original IoW might be one of those exceptions for whatever reason.

I'm working on mine. How's this...
'WOW, a new TSW that came out of nowhere. How to DTG manage to keep stuff like this a secret. They must have a leak detection system better than the local water company.'
I think I've hit the right tone.
On a serious note, I am quietly looking forward to it, DTG know what the need to improve on and hopefully we will see improvements. I'm not expecting anything too big (we'll enough to justify a new game and not just an annual update).

Yeah, I mean he's clearly the first DTG current employee who has leaked something by accident on a live stream. He should follow Matt's example, who has never leaked anything at any time in his career with DTG. (we really need a sarcasm emote).

Hope so, otherwise can't see what the purpose is in simply adding a different number at the end of the title every year.
