Sorry, I can’t give you an actual answer to your question but I hope you like this song.

Well, you should know that they're illegal to drive on public pavements, and also illegal to drive on public roads and that you will hopefully get insurance just in case you hit someone because unlike if you were riding a bicycle you're not covered by home insurance, oh and also any police action against you will apply points to your driving license.
So feel free to use it on private land or in your own home, but outside of that it could be difficult
(and yes I know many people ride them, but they don't realise that it's classed as a motor vehicle if you have any form of accident so technically you are ALWAYS liable if a pedestrian hits you...)

I know that they’re illegal , but it seems like that law will change soon so I think it might be worth buying one

Why not just buy a cycle and get fit in the process?

Always drive on the wrong side of the road and you´ll be safe.
    Glad to help.;)

Electric scooters are downright dangerous imo and should be banned. If your going to get an electric scooter get a proper one or even better a petrol powered 125cc one.

The retro looking Royal Alloy range fits the bill quite nicely.

Not quite the same thing... At least you could insure what you're suggesting, but yeah... different thing

They are dangerous - if used incorrectly . But if they are used carefully and correctly there shouldn’t be too many issues

A bit like the saying “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” although less extreme. Unfortunately there are too many scooters in the hands of people who want the scooter but not the responsibility.

    Not quite
More like "Guns don't kill people, but people with bigger guns that aren't always looking for the little gun doing something stupid like going the wrong way down a one way street might flatten them..."
I've seen a few accidents involving scooters and they boil down to the scooter person running out of pavement (sidewalk) and falling over, or doing something stupid and being flattened.

Interesting opinions here :) I have such an e-scooter. And it's not a generic cheap one. Those cheap things might be a bit uncomfortable and unsafe like the most low priced e-scooters. They have small tires often without a tube and don't have barely any suspension. I'm riding a IO-Hawk Legend also known as Kaabo Mantis 10 in the US. It is a specialised German version of that Mantis. It has only one but geared 500W motor (what gives it lots of power for offroad riding). Full suspension with 10" tube tires on top. Man, this thing feels so safe and comfortable like no other available scooter on the German market (no idea what's else where available). If you want to have a idea where and how you can ride it, i made some videos (nothing fancy, simple tour recordings) : Maik Goltz - YouTube

Id hang fire until it does as they’ll likely change legislation to make any current ones obsolete so they can make sure any others meet whatever they stipulate

In that case definitely don’t allow anyone behind the wheel of a car. You can easily kill scores of people with one of those. With a scooter you’d have to try quite hard to kill one.

Most electric scooters are less heavy than a bike, and their speed capabilities are similar. If scooters should be banned, so should bikes.

It’s all about using them in a safe way, and providing appropriate infrastructure (i.e. bike/scooter lanes).

From the number of people I have seen with facial and hand injuries from falling off scooters I would say it may be hard to kill someone else, but very easy to injure yourself by riding a scooter.
To carry on your comparrison I have seen a lot less people injured riding a bicycle or car off a kerb and getting injured than I have scooter riders.

Scooters are motorised vehicles so should be treated as such. Given some cycle lanes in the UK are shared with busses and taxis, or with pedestrians you would have to then wonder who has what responsibility in the case of right of way and in accidents.
In the case of shared bus lanes the scooter driver would have to give way to cyclist (no motor) but have priority over everything else (they're bigger), but on shared pathways the scooter rider would have to give way to pedestrians... Try telling all that to the idiots that tend to ride them on non-shared footpaths etc

Be careful where you store it. Plenty of them catch fire.
