Hi I'm after the opinions from owners of both routes, if it was a choice of the 2 what route would you prefer please? Thanks.
Horseshoe curve hands down, Sherman Hill isnt a bad route but I find the climbs a little tedious and HSC is far nicer and more engaging to drive,
Sherman Hill has really good freight braking mechanics and trains feel heavy. It's one of the realistic freight routes. However, scenery wise, it is lacking since it's mostly a desert. You can really only go 30mph the entire way even though track speed is much higher. I like this route just for the realism of the braking but that's pretty much it. There's not much going on other than mainline runs and some shunting. Hsc has much better scenery which is also colorful. It also has the south fork branch although it is slow, but adds some services there. The trains are a bit shorter but they don't have much weight to them compared to sherman hill. The braking is a bit weird, sounds aren't too good, but there's a sound mod if you're on pc. Sounds cut out if you switch to rear camera. There is more service variety. However due to the issues, I don't play it as much. They are both good but I like sherman hill better
Both good routes but HSC has more happening. DTG dropped the ball with SH by axing track 3, which would have given it a little more variety. Personally, unless I am in the mood both can be major snooze fests but that’s US freight.
Sherman hill is just that, a long hill. You're either in notch 8 all the time or dynaMic brakes all time. Trains are heavier on Sherman but the routes dull as hell. As someone said earlier they cut the size of the meal down for the accountants by stripping track three.
Haven't got HSC yet but Sherman Hill is probably my least played route after Oakville. It really is dull and for much of the way it's like crossing an arid version of Rannoch Moor but with less distant mountains or lakes.
I still have personal beef with SHG with their rolling stock choices and art between CC and HSC, so I prefer SH
The both routes are cool but I think Sherman Hill is better because the physics of the SD70ACe is more realistic comparate to the ES44AC of HSC (for example the dynamic brake is too powerful than the real ES44AC), Yeah Sherman Hill is very cool and a beautiful line with a big variety of freight to haul along the line. For the modelisation of the locomotive the SD70ACe it's just perfect, it's very beautiful, The sounds are not very good but it's correct, so yeah Sherman Hill is better, I think at this day it's the most realistic freight route in TSW2.
What is no so realistic on the SD70ACE is the "boogie light" be always on by default. When you start a run, all locomotive lights must be off, as like all the other trains. Furthermore the interior signal device, does not work properly. Incredible but on SPG this system have a more real functionality! DTG might fix both issues. In order to get a more entertaining ride on SH, you must create an Scenario where you have another train ahead of yours! The only problem, is where that trains finally stops! I have programmed to do it on the destination yard, -on a different track of mine- but it always got stuck at the first yard switch! So it is impossible for me to enter the yard too, then you can not finish the Scenario at all! Furthermore you miss all your points earned after almost 2 hours driving!
DTG know the bug of the Cab Signal system on the Sherman Hill, it will be corrected a day but when ...
Yes I remember they mentioned that. But unfortunately this is another issue added to the list... never fixed ...yet. DTG mentioned they will took 2 months to fix most of the issues. So let's hope an update including this, will be available soon.
Yes DTG mentioned that in the april's roadmap stream but 3 months later nothings ... And an update of the line in march has caused others issues (the stickers problem with the Bethgon II hopper for example), so yeah SMH has a lot of issues and yeah I hope an update is coming soon.
