Was finally able to play a service out of London Victoria to Brighton without running out of memory, up until now the issue only occurred at London Victoria however as I departed from Gatwick Airport, I ran out of memory. This route has been out for nearly a year and has been mostly unplayable for series S users and the issues over the last year have only gotten worse. This is one of my favourite routes and I'm disappointed I'm unable to play much of the route I payed for nearly a year ago.
I am also on Series S and have played many services on LBN. What works for me is limiting custom liveries, especially ones that show up on LBN. You can also try to limit the number of DLCs that you have downloaded. I very rarely get any errors. In the future, perhaps there will be a DLC manager that can mitigate this problem, but until then, you may have to improvise. Hope this helps.
