It seems to me that they like what is happening on the forum and they enjoy it. And they decided to extend it for another week.

Honestly don't think it's a hint, it's as generic as you can get. However the only german or us train that would look like that would be like a metro or subway?

ok, here are my thoughts on it

the emojis probably dont mean anything. there arent many train emojis anyway.

the date of the 8th is coloured in with a train, could the TSW3 announcement be the 8th, and the roadmap on the 9th?

if those emojis do mean something though. could it be a TGV route, a steam route and a metro route

those are just my thoughts though

My guess is the emojis have a certain meaning
The tgv could mean Karlsruhe-Straßburg as the german route
Sos is included in the bundle
The Subway could mean nyc Subway
And the new Feature of TSW3 might be border crossings

Routes don't matter, emoji don't matter.

    Only ONE thing matters.

Does TSW3 Address the worst core issues of TSW2?

This is probably another unreal engine step up with a few routes included.

I'm wondering if we might see another Amtrak route, something like NYC-Trenton with an Acela and/or NJT content. With the track upgrades complete, it would be a good all-around route with a mix of traffic and speeds (new top track speed is 160mph)

Indeed. as I just posted in one of the other threads that has popped up. I'm less concerned about new content than core fixes and improvements.

If it is a bundle than i am 99% that German route would be Riesa - Leipzig as it was relesed a couple months ago for TSC
But we will se what it is...

I dont think so because people would Start to say they could merge it with the existing Route
I highly doubt they implement route und extensions with TSW3

There really isn't a reason to upgrade the unreal engine since the most recent version out there doesn't benefit tsw at all since it's only for cinematics and camera works lol.

I don’t think we will see either Frankfurt or Leipzig in the near future. Especially Leipzig, as it is the largest station in Germany- and I don’t think I have to remind you what happened with Munich hahaha

i also found out that, we started with IOW and we ended with IOW. we have basically looped back to the start. like a boomerang, the original IOW was the first route in TSW2. and the IOW2022 is the last route. quite impressive actually

Well the new guy who just got hired into the dev team wants to bring frankfurt into the game, making it playable, etc. It was mentioned in the stream where he made an appearance. Nothing is impossible.

Not for TSW2. GWE was the second route released for TSW1, after CSX Heavy Haul (Sand Patch)

    Okay:

TSW (aka TSW1)- first released in 2017 with CSXHH. First DLCs were GWE and Rapid Transit
TSW2020 (2019)- original routes were MSB, LIRR and NTP, with repeats of GWE and CSXHH
TSW2 (2020) - Bakerloo, SKA and remastered Sand Patch

Quite a lot of fixes being requested (rightfully), but I think one that gets overlooked a lot, but would be greatly appreciated, is the deadzones on analog sticks for controllers, being either reduced or adjustable.

Matt has brought a fix for this up before, quite a while ago, however we are still stuck with the horrible clunky deadzones.

At the very least I’d like to see mouse support for console.

I was talking more about the actual unreal version (4.26 currently). We might see some sort of improvement to tsw but we won't know for sure until they actually announce it.

I predict the future to be 40 mile routes, electrostars, TRAXX units & the same usual fleet of US locomotives.

We'll see. I remember getting excited by a preview shot of SKA with Dostos in the background before the release of TSW2.
Given that, despite its issues it has quite evolved since then...

What makes me looking forward to it:
    - first TSW under Matts control as EP
    - Matts statement in last months roadmap stream the beta testers would 'like what they seen'. So far Matts enthusiasm before a new release hardly led to a disappointment afterwards.
    - Maik Goltz being a bit quiet in the forums and no real progress shown on TSGs' planned releases. I guess he's been busy with some contract work.

Regarding new features I'm expecting a bit more on the gameplay than on the sim side. I wouldn't be surprised if issues like lighting would stay untouched but instead the AP system would get an overhaul. Given Sams request some weeks ago I suspect the menu design to change as well.

But we'll see on Tuesday I guess. I'm looking forward to it anyway - since FM8 is nowhere near on the horizon hopefully TSWs next iteration doesn't turn out too buggy at release ;)

I hope this was a bit of a hyperbole, because otherwise it's like saying circuits in a racing sim, airports in a flight sim, maps in a competitive RTS or levels in a Hitman game don't matter. One can always fix bugs and improve performance, but if you have rubbish locations with no authenticity, diversity or detail, no matter how much you tweak lighting scripts or audio files, your rail sim is as good as a leaking bucket.

Glad I’m not the only one to notice. It’s the same thing that happened around the time of DCZ when we got the 612. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that TSG is working on something for DTG right now.

I love the fact that this community (me included) is such a big fan of him, I noticed that as well. Fingers crossed for some new german rolling stock (that can hopefully be used on more than route) if he's involved in it.

I’ve got to agree, the signature is a bit distracting and annoying due to the size of it. Especially when it appears multiple times in a thread.

Not really the version of UE4 they installed does support ray-tracing and othe lighting features they have not been using.

And it is possible its been a year of learning the tools and techniques in order to implement them into the game.

    There's a depressing thought.
Actually, you may be right. I'm not seriously expecting the extinction of electrostars, red boxes on rails or gevos. But I think we can expect some improvements to the lighting, sound and core components. Otherwise, what would be the point of a grand opening with rockets, bells and flashing lights, which is apparently what Tuesday is all about.

No, its actually the other way around.
Fist you need a good stable core -> non-terrible lighting, acceptable performance, working sound.
Then you can build good routes for your core.

We already know how the "DTG can always fix core issue #1023" works out. It does not get fixed and real change only comes with new versions of the game/engine.

A decent set of fixes to lighting and better/more sound plus reliable save game (preferably more than one slot) and the end of signalling redouts/stuck AI would actually breath new life into what we already have. There are many routes, particularly London to Brighton and Dresden to Riesa which I’ve barely touched due to the core issues. And when you find yourself driving along Tharandter ramp on what is supposed to be a crystal bright winter mid day, but it looks like some sort of ghastly twilight with everything shrouded in dark shadow, puts you off driving what can be done without getting checked by the other bugs.
