With the next Roadmap coming this Tuesday, there have been some odd posts coming from their Twitter account this past weekend:
    ScreenShot_20220805120920.jpeg

It's already clear it'll be the next TSW update (aka TSW3), but why all the traveling. There's already 2 unknown US and German routes on the Roadmap so far, so it ain't that for sure. So, any guesses for what this surprise is all about then, before Roadmap day?

8/8 Update - This "Undisclosed Location" is now livestreamed on YouTube, Steam and Twitch, counting down till tomorrow. Plus, new Twitter posts (here, here, here, here, & here). Plus some easter eggs from the stream just for fun.

There's a thread with the first clue to solve. Then a second Clue, which requires a Rail Fence cipher in order to crack the code.
Credit to volvolover1972 for his method of solving it, which reads: pop_open_the_brolly
    (aka Umbrella)

I think they're either flying to the real location of either the new American/German route, or they've taken a domestic flight to somewhere like Scotland to reveal the UK route that will be the third route of this big release.

The thought also occurred to me after seeing this in another thread, is if they are only just starting research for a TSW3 route and traction, then release is likely some way off - possibly many months if not 2023. Those who were thinking it could be in a couple of weeks might be in for a disappointment.

I don't think the approach to any southern England airport could be considered spectacular, though!

I think they're in Glacier National Park, Montana getting ready to launch the BNSF Hi-Line.

Good guesses so far. Might of forgot to mention that since the German Route was on Roadmap since April, and the US one from May. So there might indeed be some relations to the next route or routes with it as well (if not, then that's not surprising at all, honestly). But that's just my guess, so the guessing still continues.

This has already been posted multiple times in other threads, it didn't need a new topic.

Well, if you want to find a topic that gets buried by a thousand posts on one thread, then it's your loss. I just made this to make it clearer to discuss one topic out of hundreds from other threads.

Don't be a grumpy puss. Can't you see everyone is so excited. Well everyone except me, i couldn't give a toss.
I am only on these forum, to exercise my right to an opinion. As a consumer and spender of stupid amounts of cash, particularly on TSC and earlier versions. DTG have a track record, which is very poor. Thinking they will change, is just pie in the sky.

Clearly there's plenty of money in the pot. Rather than a jolly for a PR stunt (if that is the case) Id prefer they spent the money on some more Devs and fix the darn bugs.

Yeah, lets hope there is a reason for these Twitter post, instead of another PR stunt like in the past. But should still be interesting nonetheless, whether if its good or bad.

I guess it could be an on location launch. Reading into this when the normally do a stream at 8pm gmt but Tuesday it’s at 4pm I wonder if they’re West 4 hours.

I think you have the time zones mixed up. If they are 4 time zones to the West that would put them in the East Coast of North America. And 1600 UTC would be 1200 EST. So you want to go 4 zones east for 1600 UTC to equal 2000 where they are.

    Clear as mud eh?

I used to be a travel agent and the time zones still twist me around.

On the contrary, I'm hyped as hell, hence my disappointment when opening this clickbait topic and finding the same thing we've already seen..

I'm just looking forward to no longer seeing the "I'm hyped/shocked"/TSW 3 signatures and memes.

Whatever they announce it'll be met with some resistance, it's always the case. I just hope we get something that not only does well to promote an update and/or new routes but actually delivers on the promotion too.

It's funny you say that as initially I did post it as 4 hours to the East and I was thinking there is no way they are in Kazakhstan, so changed it to a wrong one unless its in the +3hr zone.... Hmm the mind ponders

Indeed. As I just remarked in the other thread, this is going to be key to me spending any money on TSW3, more so than the save game and sound issues.

The Tweet rather implies it won't be something as close as Germany or anything in Europe, unless it's because of something else than the length of the flight:
For me neither of the flights I had between Europe and Australia were a nightmare, so judging by what they wrote, they must have flown somewhere farther, like to New Zealand...

It depends where. Several years ago we came back from Chur in Switzerland to Bridgend in South Wales (where we were living at the time) by train all the way. Left Chur at around 0800 and travelling via Basel, Paris (walk from Gare Est to Gare du Nord), Eurostar then HST from Paddington, eventually got home after 2300. A flight from Zurich to London would have taken around 90 mins (plus the bits at either end). Basel to Paris alone was around 5 hours, sat on a sweaty plastic Corail seat!

More specifically, the Atlantic provinces of Canada. The US east coast is five hours behind England.

Ah from Chur you should have gone via Frankfurt and Brussels. Done that trip a few times. One time we came up from Sciliy over night to Milan, then Milan to Chur via Tirano and the Bernia Express followed by an over night in Chur

For me master machine means a seriously big loco, perhaps the big boy on Sherman Hill, one of those monster Aussie ore trains, or something along those lines?

Could be anything really. Doesn't need to be big to be mastered. Could be modern as well as historic.

I still haven't mastered driving Bakerloo on time and with correct stops. #Masterthemachine could just as easily apply to the tube stock.

DTG are currently live on FB and are showing the image above, every so often the sound of a train passes by. Have a look and let’s see who can tell us what it is.

That's a very Alpy mountain in the background, which resembles either the Karwendel or the Wetterstein. So I'm thinking Austrian border, either Mittenwald or Salzburg.

    Alright, one moment I've disappeared into the night. And then the next, I see a live disclosed site of what appears to be looking like;
a mountain tunnel with walls and electric tracks, both catenary and 3rd rail, and some weird sounds coming from nowhere. What is even happening right now.

(though I will admit, the scenery, even the sky, looks splendid oddly enough)

Karwendendel is single track though isn't it, or at least it was in 1983 when I travelled across there.

The third rail could just be a derailment protection system, I don't know of anywhere in Germany, Austria or Switzerland outside the cities that would have third rail and OLE on the same track.

No ICEs on the Mittenwaldbahn,* so you're right. But Salzburg is a possibility. I say ICEs because the recurrent sound effect is an EMU with motors in multiple cars, not a Railjet which is loco-hauled.

*On weekends ICE-T excursions make the run, but definitely not at high speed!
