Hi so I got a little thought going on. So what railroad companies are doing is that they are rebuilding older locomotives to be competitive in the industry to newer and much more expensive locomotives that GE and EMD are bringing out

So on that note, I would like to suggest 2 rebuild older locomotives and bring them up to more modern specs and fixing/replacing things that went wrong in the designs

So first one is the GE AC44C6m, some of them are either older Dash 9s or ac4400s and these were upgraded to be a significant improvement while retaining a very good engine and base. This results into making them look more in line towards the GE GEVO series while retaining the proven reliability.

If these go come to TSC, I think it would be right to get these in the NS (standard as well as the Sonic's paint scheme), Canadian Pacific, CSX, and Union Pacific (These ones are classified as C44ACMs)

And the other one can be the EMD SD70ACU, these guys are the rebuilds of the SAD9043Macs that we know. These are rebuilt to have a newer front cab to meet the FRA crash worthiness standards, replaces electronics, and in cab upgrades. If these come to TSC I believe that they would be Canadian Pacific and Norfolk Southern as these companies either bought these from the factory or bought them from UP

I would like to point out that even remotely if these amazing creators bring these into TSC I would really, really, like to have these done with some good quality, I know that some of the developers that are bringing out these locomotives out, but the quality needs to be more and not less

Indeed they're looking terrible. Cheap TravelbyTrain style. No proper metallic reflections, bump maps, don't reflect the environmental lighting and just look out of place. Put one of the old SD70V2 pack locos next to them and you see the difference between professional modellers/texture artists' work and cheap "shovelware" stuff.

Just an example, RSC/DTG models vs TbT. You see how the edges are modelled on the old RSC SD70, they reflect the light and the thing just looks good compared to the "boxiness" and cheaper modelling sharp-edged GP33 from TravelbyTrain which gives the impression of being a cardboard loco.

Stuff like this is exactly the reason why Searchlight Simulations don't produce more locos, with DTM/TBT/TLS flooding the market with their low quality products.

Yeah this is just kind of sad, I mean people are doing better locomotives on the internet that are 100% better than what DTM/TBT/TLS are doing, I dont mind waiting a bit longer to get a higher quality locomotive

Pretty decent by freeware standards, genuinely insulting by $20 payware standards

By the way TBT's SD70ACUs are $9.99 pre-order, $12.00 direct from TBT, and (confirmed) the full $20 on Steam. I'm sure someone will still buy the pack...
