I think the answer would be no. Would love to be wrong though

I highly doubt they would mess with the terrain as it would probably cause alot of problems elsewhere .

The gradient into and out of stratford has *not* been changed, the junctions however have as they were not suitable for the speeds used on them.

Could we get an reason why the gradients has not been fixed?

I wonder why the gradients weren't there as the home route so to speak?

It does look quite wrong but speaking as someone who has taken a crack at route building in most of the sims over the years sometimes you have to make compromises, particularly where complex track arrangements are involved. Do we have a comparison with how the TSC route represents it?

In that case TSC got it right. Maybe the UE4 editor is not so good, or the route builder decided to deviate from the gradient profile.

Frankly this is a very minor quibble.
I've never stood on that platform, so never observed the gradient.
On the real train I rarely noticed the exotic delights of all that gleaming concrete as it majestically rolled past my awed gaze.

That said the lack of a route editor has royally screwed up the game from the start :(

I have a possible explanation as to why the gradient is so wrong there in TSW. Poor route building and a lack of attention to detail. Also, after this was noticed (probably quite early on in development I would reckon) it would have been too much work to rectify it and that probably continues to be the case for the new version.

Some ground needs to go down, that’s for sure.

It hasn’t been rebuilt from the ground up. Some areas of track have been reworked to make the bends less dramatic and some areas of the scenery have been improved - including overhead wires/signalling etc. No rebuild though (apart from the new sections.

Never mind, maybe "Slope Gradient" is a new feature in TSW4 that will be implemented in two or three years.

The TSW series has no gradient gradient, so the in-game routes are: "Uphill", "Downhill" and "Straight". bad!

Presumably needing to edit the Stratford asset? Assuming it's all one asset like it was in TS.

In TSC you are always on the train. In TSW2/3 you can walk out of it, and passengers have to get in the train. I guess a gradient in the platform can cause all kind of issues.

Did DTG employ cowboys to build this route or something? It’s laughable how poor it is in several areas.

if tsw can't replicate gradients like that, when why not? surely that should have been one of the reasons to go to tsw3? to add all these things that were not possible in tsw2?

Oh gosh, that is rather cringeworthy. Makes you worried as to what else we might find come September 2nd. Let's hope it's an isolated error.

I would've thought the gradient at Stratford Int to be the first thing the developers would improve. It's such an important feature of the station.
They traded doing an improvement/ extension over a new route which is fine as long as the improvement is of a high standard, which in most cases isn't the case.

Yes, I do have the route but have rarely opened it for gameplay. I recall the criticisms about fences etc at the release time, but I don't think this problem was mentioned.

Really...? I've been through there many times and barely notice it as a feature compared to all the entrances, huge concrete box walls, the shopping centre above etc etc
Agreed it maybe should be there anyway, but "important"?!?

It's easy not to. For the same way it's easy to copy and past the same vehicle and sell it again and again (Ahem 185, Dostos), and the same way it's easier to use the ETCS Displays on the 401 instead of the proper cab, but I bet we won't have ETCS.

No, but for real, I think that they didn't do it because the cost/resources to win relation wouldn't be high enough, as it's either to resource-draining, or it wouldn't bring them anything. Or both. It's sad to that behavior, because, without a competition DTG can do whatever they want and we'll buy it, as there is no other viable, good, option. It's a really bad marketing strategy, but it is one, sadly for the customers.

  37. Is this reason behind the absence of gradient markers on tsw?

  38. Can't say I've ever seen a platform with a gradient.

For the record, I have never been to Stratford International. I've only watched videos on the internet of trains passing through at high speed. The gradient is the only thing I notice and I want to drive over it in SEHS.

The platforms themselfves dont have gradients, but there are ones before and immediently after the station.

I don't think the platform even changes gradient, the change is beyond the platform.

    EDIT
    Beaten to it.

I think the proper question would be why did they get it so wrong in tsw 2 in the first place?

I think a lack of research was probably the most reasonable cause, but with things like this I am not sure if they can just fix it, especially if Stratford International is one big asset like in TS.

I have seen quite a few instances of platforms on gradients with changes, in fact I think there are one or two stations like that on TSW's own Bakerloo Line in the tube section. Watch any NYC Subway cab ride and you will encounter stations on gradients or where the gradient changes. An even more severe example is something like the Arth Goldau to Rigi rack railway in Switzerland, The station throats and platform ends literally fall away into the gradient change!

Well, the platform has no gradient but at least in the picture (I haven't been there IRL) it looks like the rails do have a gradient at the start of the platform or close enough to cause a change in the relative height and angle between the platform and the train.

The lack of care from DTG towards UK content continues.

    Bakerloo- Terrible sounds
    SEHS- Terrible scenery
    Cathcart- Terrible lighting
    London Commuter- Terrible performance
    SEHS 2- Terrible ?

Am I right in thinking that there is an upward gradient on all approaches to subway stations? I seem to recall reading this about the London Underground.

Many yes to assist in deceleration/acceleration, not sure if all. The Central Line has particularly noticeable gradients either side of the tube stations along Oxford Street.
