In the TSW3 devblog just released, there was a shot of the route selection screen, where a suspicious german route named ‘Niddertalbahn’ is shown.

What are we thinking of this potential new route?

    Already in Trainz:

"The 30km track from Bad Vilbel to Stockheim was originally built by Pängel_Anton and was upgraded to current standards in track design for Trainz 12 and then TANE. This beautiful German route has a gorgeous landscape that you are sure to enjoy.

Now this popular route has been upgraded for TRS19 with new track, parallax textures and more."

Maybe this route was the one leak on discord by Lukas?

    Isn't this an unelectrified line?

According to the wikis the line is only 31km long, which is comparable to West Somerset Railway. That's notably shorter than usual, and kinda the opposite of the new long routes announced for TSW3. I do hope that means this route will have something else as a major selling point. Perhaps a good selection of rolling stock?

it's the rolling stock i worry about,

still haven't heard how the 'separating of the route and train' feature affects things.

Does it mean that you buy this unelectrified route, and only have one train to run on it unless you buy more diesel locos as separate DLC's?

Well all I can say is it's one of the few routes I've actually driven from end to end in Trainz and it is very lovely. Not mountainous but pastoral farmland and gentle hills. Personally I would like to see either a DB BR216/218 and the BR628 DMU. I don't think the maximum speed is that high and with frequent stops it will take a while to drive across.

I know this is going to sound odd in view of my current stance on TSW3, but assuming the issues are sorted this could be a Day 1 purchase for me.

Trying to recall if the Trainz version had German semaphore signals. That would be a first in TSW, too.

Oh this is so cool! Definitely sounds like the route that was teased on Discord a while back with the DMU(s). Not too long, but I guess frequent stopping, steep curves/gradients and low speed limits will still make it quite a lengthy one to traverse!

Not all TSW3 routes will be as long as the release ones, and I think that is OK. There should be a bit of everything.

I wouldn't expect too much of a change from the current situation. Any route needs at least one loco to come with it, and since more and more trains have been made, more and more can be recycled. Newer routes seem to come with a selection of trains included.

The only thing that changes is that, for example, they've added layers for the BR363 and the BR363 isn't included by default, you'd be able to buy the BR363 add-on and use it on the route, without the need to buy its home route (Ruhr-Sieg Nord).

True, but assuming a shorter route means less time ( =money ) needed for route building, I hope they've allocated the resources to another feature of the route (like an extra trainset, for example). That's probably just wishful thinking.

I mean, WSR is an awesome route, it's short but has quite lovely scenery, and it came with 2 brand new locos and a brand new set of Mk1 coaches. And it has a lower price tag than the usual DLC. I hope we can expect something similar for Niddertalbahn.

Found a video of the Trainz version:

Of course it will not be the same in TSW3, but you can get a feel of the route.

Please notice I never purchased BR 363, but I have it!.
It appears on both Dresden - Riesa and Dresden Chemmitz routes.
Not remember if it comes with both or one of them, so I can use on the other.
Please notice I am referring to the one with old scheme on blue color.

That seems to indicate the route has been electrified at some point. Certainly the first Trainz version was non-electrified.

Oh well, maybe not so much excitement after all. Probably another Dosto/143/Traxx fest.

Yup, it looks like it is electrified because if you take a look at the leaked picture, the train that is shown looks like a BR 42x

You got it from the Rush Hour Riesa - Dresden DLC. It includes the blue 363.

Photo from dec 2020 indicates it was unelectrified by that time. Assuming I got the correct bit of railway track and didn't accidentally mess up and pick a whole different line

I actually think the route in the leaked picture looks unelectrified and the train looks more like a BR 642 'desiro' DMU, as the nose seems to be rounder and sloping more inward. Makes sense as these are the main DMU's operating there , or so wiki says.

Maybe it's not a DTG but a Rivet route, would make sense, shorter, one new train and more niche.

EDIT: Actually, the train in the picture looks way more like the BR 612 we already have. Note the cab window shape. It is strange though as I can't find info on the BR 612 operating there, just the 642, 218 and 245.

I'm no expert at German but I suspect the recording (Aufnahme?) is from 2012. Just because it was recently uploaded to youtube doesn't mean it's also recently recorded.

I hope the route is set before december 2014, so we can have the BR218. As DTG is probably gonna do modern stuff, the best I hope for is BR245 that can be substituted by a BR218 loco DLC.

But I wouldn't mind if it was even set in the older times. I quite like the good old BR628 and would definately prefer it over the BR642. Although the majority of customers seem to prefer modern "plastic" trains, so I guess the BR628 is extremely unlikely.

EDIT: I believe the n-Wagen is frequently requested in the suggestions forums as well...

It definitely looks like a 612 to me. It could simply be the placeholder image or it could be DTG's way of saying the 612 is "eh, good enough."

    Cheers

There was a discussion on Discord a few months ago about a rather short German Diesel only route. I assume that this is the one they were talking about.
It is being developed by a new third party and TSG will supply the new train. If I understood correctly, it will be the BR 628 which would also make sense. They also said that one known train by DTG will be included and that could be the 612 on the picture.

So everything makes sense: Niddertalbahn (short route, German, Diesel) with BR 628 and 612 probably

Oh boy I hope that's correct because I'd love to see the BR628. I do hope that discord discussion was reliable.

Although it makes me wonder if there'd be any room for some layers for the several German diesel shunters that are available?

It was by the third party developers themselves. I am just not sure if I understood the words correctly, but the term "BR 628" did come up in a sentence that sounded good

So wow, not even two weeks since the announcement of TSW3 and we have got another, very promising leak!
Three things I could think of:
    1. The route will go to Frankfurt Main Hbf. That makes a few more kilometers, and until Bad Vilbel and in Frankfurt we have got a very busy line with ICE, EC, IC, RE and freight for AI, and RB and S-Bahn services which are playable. What makes me think of that is, that (insert name here) stated that he wants to bring in Frankfurt.
    2. The line will come with the Br628 and the Br612 for the Br218 services. Maybe we will get the Br218 as a seperate DLC later so we can switch like on SKA, where we have got two timetables for the S-Bahn; one for the Br422 and one for the Br423.
    3. A diesel only route would be awesome! Especially this one, as Bad Vilbel is part of the Main-Weser Bahn; one of my favorite German route!

Really hoping TSG has a finger in the pie - perhaps as a colab and this is why the 420 has pushed back slightly.

DTG should try leaking their stuff less. You know what they say, too many leaks a day keeps the doctor away... or... something like that.

If DTG wants more traffic why not merge this with S5 S6 S-Bahn Rhein Main because trains here have RMV Decals. Bundle is called Naheverkehr Frankfurt am Main.
