Especially leaking something in a prerecorded piece. Does no one bother to watch these things back prior to uploading?
I was thinking the exact same think. With JD making leaking jokes at every possible moment, which are funny to be honest, so no complains here, I was shocked to see something getting leaked on the trailer and then confirmed as a leak on the QA stream. Oh well!
I guess not. On the plus side though, at least we know what the next german route will be. So people can't complain that it is shorter then Kassel-Wurzburg since the route itself is short.
How do you know it'll go to Frankfurt(Main)? I've heard it will never come because of the sheer size of it. That said I would love to be proven wrong because we'd get the entire RB34 line and the first time we'd get an entire RB line in TSW.
Can't quite imagine they doing Frankfurt a.M. Main Station with this route. You would end up with a single DMU at this Station wich is one of the busiest in Germany. If Frankfurt will ever come than they would do a network with it I guess. Implementing Frankfurt just for a branch line wouldn't be worth the effort, even so I would like to see Ffm at some point in the Game. I also think they could use this route to polish the 612 and bringing it up to date (controls, sounds, etc). Not sure if there would be a new train since Routes like Riesa Dresden did not saw new Locos but updated ones. I hope I'm wrong with my suggestion and we get the chance to see the 628, wich I would absolutely love to see.
I think that’s a bit miss understandable; I meant that it would be awesome if the route goes till Frankfurt, as it’s not that far away
They certainly learned their lesson. The TSW3 leak got the hype train running so much, they're now intentionally 'leaking' stuff in order to keep the hype train operational. And I quite like it. Considerably better than waiting for a new roadmap to anticipate a route announcement, only to discover no new route added to the roadmap. Now we're getting new bits of info when we don't expect it. I like it. Good job DTG JD . Just keep on leakin'
Let’s just hope if it’s a new partner, DTG are nurturing them and making sure they don’t make the same mistakes as Rivet etc. In return, if the product is good I will be happy to support it.
I love Rivet content. At least they give us something new, and not the same old recycled content DTG does. Rivet might've been a bit too ambitious at certain times though. I have never regretted buying their content.
I presume it's a third party route, for no other reason than DTG have developed a brand new German route already for TSW3 and to launch this one so soon afterwards seems a little odd (assuming it's out soon). I'm still hopeful we will get a brand new British route next, maybe from the JT team?
Finally a diesel German route . But 31km is a bit short, maybe it will feel longer at 80kmh.If a BR 628 is confirmed it will add many possibilities for a classic route set in the 90s. BR 628s were replaced by BR 642s following a 2014 timetable change so BR 218s will most likely be added as layers in the future, Possibly with n-Wagen sets.
A short enclosed route / line can deliver the same good experience than a long one. If you are the person, who likes short routes, is another thing and rather subjectiv.
I agree. Assuming the save game is back by the time this comes out, you can run through a whole day of operations changing trains as necessary.
It would be a dream driving a little tired old DMU on a single track line throughout the Hessen countryside
The 612 could also be a placeholder for any new loco. Lukas hinted in the TSC Discord (well, he upfront said it iirc) that he and Ed (who of course both worked on the Meisen extension to DRA) were working on their own route. So perhaps this could be that. After all, I don't see DTG having a German route lined up soon after TSW3 comes out, TSG are a loco-focused 3rd party, and I don't see Skyhook (lawnmower merchants ) or Rivet doing it.
I wouldn't say that. But making a route is, for a tiny 3pp, a huge financial risk and needs a goo planning. And making a route is a huge pile of work and needs lots of time, if you don't have 20 people working on it.
Leaks are the new roadmap. “If it hasn’t been leaked yet assume it isn’t happening.” will be the new saying in live streams.
Well, isn't the deciding factor the journey times rather than the length of the route? Kassel-Würzburg is 186km but takes only 60-70 minutes with an ICE. This route takes around 50 minutes to drive from end to end.
No, because travel time and line speed are irrelevant in terms of resources required to develop a DLC. It takes just as much time to develop 1 km of 30km/h track than it takes to develop 1 km of 300km/h track. I'm not talking about value from a players perspective here. I'm talking about resources required from a developers perspective. I think it's safe to assume a 186km dual-track route takes more time to develop than a 31km single-track route. Even considering the tunnels on the high speed route and the likelyhood that scenery on high speed routes in general might be simplified (not only to keep resources within budget, but also because of performance possibly). If less resources are being spent on pure milage, resources could be spend on other aspects of the DLC. Such as more detailled scenery, more walkable areas, more scenarios, more rolling stock, or any other kind of content or feature. Or, if less resources are spent, the price tag could be lower. Just like WSR had a fair amount of new rolling stock and more detailed scenery, and all that for a lower than usual price tag.
I think a safer bet for a DMU would be the 642. There are a lot more of them and are on a lot more routes. Right off the bat, they could add AI to DRA, mix in with 612s on DCZ and add a new layer (albeit short) to MSB. But I then don't see them making an extra 218/245 to pull the dostos... and I'm afraid what they would replace it with.
The 642 might be more versatile, but it'd be yet another modern plastic German train... The 628 is considerably more interesting and certainly different to the existing collection of trains we have in TSW.
Thinking back to Zusi 2 there was an even older DMU that looked really cool. Might have been these: http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/de/diesel/dmu/historic/624/ozeanblau-beige/pix.html
...since there is now so much speculation about the Niddertalbahn ongoing and it has not been denied by DTG yet, one can assume that it is actually a new route in production, that was intentionally included in the dev video. As always collected some pics and infos and put them together (otherwise it wouldn't be me).
Well even If the 642 might be more modern I really dont understand why they should create the 628. The 642 could easily be used as a Layer on different routes while the 628 is barely even used in Germany. I dont like the word ,,plastic‘‘ in general. A lot of People prefer more modern trains than the older ones as they Are still used
If you watch the Q&A stream back from Tuesday the first thing JD stated at the start of the stream was yes they leaked a new third party produced route and that it was a long way off from release and that they wouldn't give any further details until the 3rd party announced it.
628s still run in their hundreds many parts of Germany, a lot have also gone to Czechia, Hungary and Romania. The reason why DTG probably might choose 628s is because Maik is going to be working on a BR 218 later, which did run on the Niddertalbahn before 2014 (the same time BR 628s operated on the line). However nobody is working on a BR 245 (which replaced BR218s) so the line will feel incomplete with only a 642. It is true that a 642 is used in a lot of current TSW2 routes in real life, but so are 628s... A person liking modern trains can depend on areas, Germany has both good and bad modern trains but nothing beats a Silberlinge + BR 141. But in a country like UK not many modern trains are good, most notably an IET or 701 Aventra.
After a week we will have a list of all pre-2010 vehicles listed here that could come with the route....
Sadly on the leaked picture there's a 612... Just have a look on the side windows, 642 has totally different ones. Sad but it's true. I was hoping for a 642.
You sure it'll take us a full week? People like to speculate and will probably do so until the selection of rolling stock included with the route has been revealed. I guess we all would very much like to see our favourite trains. You make it sound like it's a bad thing. It's not, is it? Speculation is half the fun (and pretty much all the fun when a route can't be played yet).
It's not a bad thing per se, no. But people often set their own expectations way to high on what gets delivered and then get disappointed by it when it's not what they had their hopes on.
Ahhh the TSW forum circle of life. Announcement/leak > wild speculation > preview stream disappointment > wild speculation on what might change before release > release disappointment > "never trusting DTG again, uninstalling TSW2!" > aaaand repeat.
