Any suggestions for the renaming of The Preservation Crew. Noticed Sam neatly side stepped the question.
I don't know what name you would give to a group of dedicated people, who work really hard to improve a game, only to see most of their efforts blowin' in the wind. The Preservation Crew is like a plane completing its flight then spending eternity circling the airport waiting for a chance to land.
The press gang. There new role will be to catch dtg devs unawares and put them to work fixing bugs and stability issues.
Just you wait….. Adam’s team get its new reveal and everyone wlll be like “But why aren’t you supporting , does that mean you’re not putting tsw3 features into tsw2” Whilst I will be sat her furiously thumping the table and spilling English tea from my nostrils shouting at the screen “Does Henry Ford still support the model T at the factory with new radios , abs, supercharger upgrades and hybrid technology because you’re that old you bought one new?”
The problem is that it isn't just TSW2, which is all but dead, just waiting for the support plug to be pulled. DTG are ALSO no longer going to support any DLCs that predate SOS (even in their TSW3 incarnations): the promised or semi-promised fixes to long-standing, some very long-standing bugs will never be delivered, and those routes will now remain bugged forever. With the repurposing of Adam's team DTG are washing their hands of them.
Agreed, I dare say half the issue is the teams a cost, you can’t sell an old dlc on a preserved update. They’ll likely be shifted to work supported by marketing campaigns as opposed to historic work a few years old
I can't see a reason why they cannot stay named the Preservation Crew...after all, they are still going to be preserving TSW3 routes post launch....or did I miss a memo ?
OTOH failure to deal with bugs and broken scenarios does not encourage users to rush out and buy the new stuff, as we are even seeing with regard to TSW3. There are still issues stopping 100% completion of Journey Mode on many of the existing routes. However sad to say, definitely seems DTG are going down the route of once a product has achieved 95% of its expected lifetime sales and refunds are minimal, they are quite happy to tip it in the dumpster.
In that case ALL DLC that predates TSW3 should be repriced to an absolute maximum of 50% of the original RRP. To continue selling content that is broken at full RRP knowing it will never be fixed is extremely sketchy indeed, but absolutely typical of DTG. They still sell TSC content at it’s original price!
I've not watched all the streams yet (just as well in most cases) but am somewhat concerned about the Preservation Crew situ, does this mean then that in future, once new routes are released, they'll never be touched again after release when new features appear? And will we now never be able to reskin the HST, Class 45 etc, those that didn't make it possible to reskin in TSW2?
It sounds like a thankless job either way. Keep on fixing the same bugs caused by the main team who never seem to learn.
"Live/Post Release Updates Team" as would very much like them to stay focused on improving already released products (which obviously will include the new Training Centre)
I believe in one of streams there was mention of Adam's team maybe carrying out a pass of released TSW3 dlc maybe six to eight weeks after release to tidy up any non critical issues that had emerged. I don't think this had been fully decided.
I like the ring of Preservation Crew. It sounds utilitarian and is easily understood. Do they feel they want a new name?
Given the ditching of the "Preserved collection" name for older routes, I likewise see no reason to drop the Preservation team name. There's no longer a chance of confusing its purpose as there is no "preserved collection" any more, so their job is preserving an across the board level of quality standards on TSW3 routes post-release.
Except, apparently, it isn't. As far as I can tell, "preserving across the board quality standards" will no longer be a thing going forward.
I think I missed that memo to. Thanks for the team name suggestions, there are some good ones and we have enjoyed reading them. Happy Friday.
How else would you describe it when a route isn't being brought up to TSW3 modern standards? Personally I'm kinda ok with this fact as long as present & future bugs are fixed as and when they crop up as a line has to be drawn somewhere and I've certainly got my money's worth out of the older routes, but to me it's still abandoning them.
Matt said something in one of the streams that certainly looked that it would be the case. What I understood of what he said was that your team was repurposed, and you will be making tutorials for the Test Center and taking care of bugfixes/improvements in the last released DLC. If those are not the current plans I think you should tell us what they are. Maybe we are more worried than we should, and that does not help with pre-orders.
I am sure some rethinking was going on - when you have a (very good) team fixing issues that then sit in a release queue for ever, you are basically shooting yourself in the foot by creating expectations that are never realized (a specialty of DTG). A pity because Adam's team is one of the better ideas and they delivered on their part. My vote would be the A Team, if it does no breach copyright!
