This is now the third iteration of this game and TSW still suffers with some of the worst LOD model switching I've seen in an Unreal Engine title. Terrain constantly shifting in front of you as you approach, rail sleepers popping into existence and asset quality just dropping when it's well within range of the player. I understand that this is done for the sake of optimisation but can PC players at least have the option to tweak the distance where the model swapping occurs (or better yet, have a few more LODs so that the transition from full poly model to background asset is less prominent)? I'd quite like to make use of the hardware I have. The example below is taken from where you spawn in the tutorial for the LMS Jubilee.
Yes I agree it's crazy, even with my game as at ultra, tree LOD is terrible, changing shape and shadow really close, totally spoils the immersion of the game, I never found a way to change this in the engine.ini, so I guess it's hardwired into the game, probably so that consols can keep up, damn consols are the ruin of PC sims it seems
I’m not sure us console peasants can be blamed for a problem that already existed on PC for a year before they even made a console version.
We all know PC sims are dumbed down for consols we should be allowed to increase LOD on PCs that can handle it, it certainly feels worse than the original Train Sim world
This really ruined the experience for me. I have compared it with tsw2 and its worse on tsw3! The peds also seem look a lot worse in tsw3?
