My TSW2 fps are already a laughing point on here (7-30) If I get TSW3 will the game become unplayable to get the same results?
Dont know your specific specs but when I installed TSW3 it set all my settings that where on ultra on TSW2 to High and all that where high to medium. Finally it set my screen % to 67% from about 140% on TSW2. It ran really well 40-60fps but I did not like the screen % so set to 90% was getting 30-60fps. I have tweaked my settings and turned most settings back to high/ultra as I like visual quality over FPS. AMD freesync keeps the game smooth enough for me. Now in the range 30fps-50fps. But I am happy with this. System CPU 3900x RAM 32GB Vega 56 8GB
So far, TSW3 feels like it actually runs better than TSW2. Obviously, the game isnt fully launched yet so only the base routes from TSW3 are available, none of which are particularly heavy in performance. London Commuter will probably be the true test when it is available on tuesday. Keep in mind i do play at a 1366x768 resolution due to the limitations of my screen, and obviously that resolution is significantly lower than what most people use nowadays. However, my five year old PC (i5-7400, GTX 1050, 16GB RAM) is able to run the game comfortably on medium-high settings with screen % set at 67. So i do not know your specs or your settings but i would definitely play with the settings, particularly the screen % setting as it has a big impact on performance.
The tsw2 routes won't have any of the upgrades except dynamic weather and/or skies (not sure of this one) so london commuter would have the same performance with what you had in tsw2
I will keep trying different settings and see which gives best frame rate or should I say acceptable playing... I am getting very different rates as to settings I do. Easy now to get into the 'green' 30 - 40 with not much deterioration. The night time scenarios I can run maxed as you can't see much detail anyway... I suppose as well as I only run GW Ex - TTees - NTPennine and sometimes Steam which is why I bought TSW2 but I find the Steam Engines like the real ones have minds of their own and need constant attention. I have made some scenarios with the Class 40 and 47 they run good in it. Apart from weather I do not see any advantage getting it (yet) as I only play GB routes. (Except West Somerset which I find awful trying to keep speeds down so I leave that alone) As they say "I only put in a Nickle so do not expect a Dollar song"
