The speed limit on Cajon pass between Oro Grande and Barstow is wrong.

In game the limit is at 55 MPH but in real life it is 70. The speed limit may have been set to 55 because that’s the speed all trains besides Intermodal and auto racks are limited to but the stacks and autoracks are able to achieve 70MPH on that section.

The 70MPH limit begins at the green sign located at MP 31.9 and continues until MP 4.6 just outside of the Barstow Yard where it drops down to 60 MPH.

I believe the speed limit is also 70 in Hesperia between MP 47.2 and 43.7 but I may be incorrect.

It would be awesome if the speed limits were raised in these areas so we can really experience what this route has to offer!
    - let me know if you have any questions :)

    Edit:
Just booted up the game in an intermodal to get some screenshots of what I mean

^ here you can see in the upper right the speed limit drops to 55 where it should be upgrading to 70

^ here you can see the green signs mentioned above at MP 4.6

It's funny you ask to raise the speed limit to 70 mph. Meanwhile here i am, don't have any brave to bring the train more than 30 mph on downgrade journey. Summit - Barstow journey it's not as steep as Summit - San Bernardino, but still, my mental image of heavy freight train negotiating a grade is no more than 30 mph. Hahahaha cheers. XD

I’m right there with you haha! When I’m on the main decent I’m practically crawling but once I get to the open desert after passing Victorville I’d like to pick up the pace a bit

The speed limits are accurate. Depending on the type of train your taking can change the speed limits depending on the cars it contains. A good example is manifests with a ton of different cars will be limited to 55, and hot intermodals will be able to go the full 70. It’s honestly one of the best small details DTG did get correct on Cajon.

Yet to attempt the descent but I know from Run 8 things can get a bit hairy!

Yes manifests and other types of trains are limited to 55 however Stack trains and Autoracks are authorized to be able to go 70 on the sections mentioned

Could someone provide the symbol of a train out of Barstow where they are seeing the 70mph limit? I've tried a few intermodals and autoracks, and am seeing the behavior described in the original post, with the speed limit being 55 at MP 4.6 instead of 70.

It might also be useful to know your platform, as I'm on Series X.
