With the final Preservation Crew updates released, an earlier discussed piece of content is missing - the passenger train layer for OSD using CalTrain MP36. While inaccurate to an extent, it would have greatly helped the route, and with parallel timetables functionality, it wouldn't bother people aiming for accuracy. Adam has even shown the prepared timetable on a roadmap stream earlier this year. May I ask what happened to this, and will it possibly appear later?
Do you mean the ones on the TSW3 version? It has been mentioned those will not come as they're replaced by the Jubilee services. But that at least was a piece of information provided; OSD passenger services were mentioned to be produced (frankly part of the Pres Crew update I was most looking forward to), progress was shown, and without a single piece of information thrown away now that OSD got its update.
What surprises me most is that they dismissed the idea of including passenger services and at the same time spent time on this: Oakville Subdivision: More passengers added to stations Added Rush Hour passengers The whole thing is nonsense.
Yeah. I’m very surprised they left it out, especially considering Rush Hour passengers were added (which are completely useless without any passenger trains on the route). Could’ve just chucked the new services into a separate timetable and make everyone happy. Wonder what went wrong here.
That would require a new route, though - OSD is great for a layer from another DLC, but it is too short for a GO Transit add-on to be made specifically for it.
Maybe they were added for custom scenario mode? I recall running a custom passenger thing on Oakville a while back and there were zero passengers. Don't have TSW3 yet to test
Yeah, I've even made one myself back when OSD and PennCorr released as Preserved for TSW2. It is a nice little 30-minute 5-stop run and it would greatly help making the route a little busier.
The timetable updates for OSD and PenCor didn't make it to the release, it's having some technical issues - but not forgotten. Once they're resolved it'll go out.
There’s a timetable update for Peninsula Corridor in development? I didn’t even know that! Something to be excited about for sure
Great to hear that. Any chance you could tell us something about the PenCor timetable? First time I heard about this
Please, please, please add the option to disable layers. I don't want to see Caltrain trains in Canada.
Timetable update for Peninsula Corridor? How comes? Doesn't that route have a pretty good timetable already? Anyway this is a bit of an off topic, but it's disappointing to see how little updates did LIRR get. At least they fixes the alerter in the M3 apparently, but I bet all the sound issues and whatnot are still present. I feel like LIRR is in the similar state now like the original NEC was. Broken to an extent that it would be easier to redo it from scratch, so it just remains forgotten...
Thanks, really glad to hear that, I was disappointed when I didn’t see them on the OSD list but glad they’re still in the plans. Hopefully if we can’t get GO repaints we can at least get something generic green/white or even just white instead of Caltrain. It whatever they rolling stock looks like I’ll be happy to see it there.
Sort of. Last I heard they decided upon a two-state solution using the multiple timetable system. Cheers
Hmm, wonder if the Penn Corridor update is just passenger only, or if any freight was added to the timetable.....
It wouldn't get a repaint since liveries and stuff are licensed and dtg aren't going to do unlicensed stuff. Just the addition of it is enough for it since dtg may never get the go license so I'm happy that are adding passenger services at all with what they have
That's what I suspected, since I doubt Adam's people would have spent all that time adding PIS and passengers to Oakville if passenger trains weren't coming.
yea I have a good feeling about this. they must have something in the pipeline for this route why would they go to all the bother adding more bells and whistles just for the sake of it.
Lirr was left for dead a long time ago and been broken, with small services to one of the "busiest railroad" in america....the dlc itself was a fail to begin with...
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but just curious if Oakville’s passenger timetable can be mentioned on the roadmap stream next week? Or at least just listed on the roadmap under “Miscellaneous” or “Special Projects Team” ? I know Peninsula Corridor’s issues were mentioned in the December roadmap stream but I don’t recall hearing anything about Oakville since September.
No update on the roadmap unfortunately. Only peninsula corridor has “NOTE: there are further improvements to come on both games” on the roadmap article, Oakville is only listed for TSW2. EDIT: it was brought up in the roadmap stream, doesn’t seem like it’s coming soon, but there’s still hope, seems like peninsula corridor will get its updates first before Oakville.
Another roadmap day, and it’s STILL not listed on it. Starting to suspect they silently cancelled it. Shame. I don’t really care how delayed it is, I just want to know if we’re still going to get it eventually or not
The optimistic inside me hopes this delay is because licensing negotiations are encouraging and we may yet see fully licensed passenger trains bring this route alive. The pessimistic side of me says the project has quietly been put on a back burner and forgotten about.
Well, I asked in the roadmap stream chat and they answered again… Now I asked “Why isn’t it listed in the roadmap article” and after JD read the question, they both went silent for a few seconds. Matt did say that it wasn’t scrapped or forgotten about and that they need to ask Adam about it. But my question was if it still is coming, why isn’t it at least listed on the roadmap article then? It makes no sense. It should be listed on the March roadmap if it’s still coming to the game. It doesn’t matter when it’s coming, or the details, it should simply just say under Special Projects “Improvement - Oakville Passenger Timetable”
In the FAQ’s for TSW4, If I’m reading it right, it says TSW3 will only receive the Trenton TT upgrade and then be unsupported for future updates. Considering the Oakville Passenger Timetable was first talked about in Fall 2021, almost two years ago, what games can we expect it to release on? It’d be fair to release it on all three games (TSW2, 3, & 4) however that seems unlikely to me.
I believe we are soon to be testing the fix for this, which I believe DTG Matt submitted last week - unfortunately it's not a simple one, so will require a fair amount of testing. More when we've got through the testing process. EDIT - sorry, misread. This is the Pen Corridor missing services.
My apologies, didn't read the title and assumed you meant Pen Corridor. My comment referred to Pen Corridor, just for vis. I don't have info on Oakville at the moment.
Ah, that’s a little unfortunate however I understand it’s probably a low priority compared to TSW 4. Will the Oakville Passenger Timetable be listed on tomorrow’s Part 2 roadmap? If it’s just simply listed on the roadmap (doesn’t need additional info, just the bullet point) at least there’s some hope that’s it’s not completely forgotten about.
I need to catch up and see where things got to on that, now that i've solved the pen cor problems, I can take a pass at this and see what's left, but I have a mountain of stuff to get through as well - so, it's on there.
The baby bullet services cab car services are there just with the normal cab car. The southbound baby bullet services are there with the right consist. it’ll be really cool when the update Matt worked on comes down the line and we get them all
In the mean time, could sneak the current state of the passenger timetable file into the steam version of TSW4 and let the community activate it and fix it… just kidding. Thanks for taking a look at PenCor and Oakville
I wouldn't hold my hopes up. They have been promising it for like a year, then it got totally swept under the rug.
I dusted off the passenger stuff on Oakville and have started looking at it but it's taken a back seat to other issues at the moment - i'll get back to it, looks like its mostly just fixing some bugs and then ready to go though, services are all there. Doesn't mean it's close... but... not forgotten either. Matt.
