Nope. It is unplayable without a save function. (Sorry for harping on about it but I feel extremely strongly about it. It is the height of stupidity to remove a function that works most of the time, against the wishes of the community)
There's plenty of YouTube videos you can watch to determine if you want to buy it. Only drawback for me is save function since I can't do longer runs in one sitting or if there is an issue and I have to reload. If you want the new features and want to continue buying dlc with the new features, then you could consider it. Tsw2 is no longer being supported, except for a few updates for preserved crew and other updates. You could wait for a sale, look at reviews, see what routes come out, etc to see if it's really what you want.
Not sure what to think of it. I'm not really enjoying it. Something is wrong with this title. Maybe I'm playing it wrong but I find the game boring. It feels more like a real train simulator now which should be a positive thing but I have come to learn that simulator aren't boring at all but TSW3 makes me think again about simulators as boring and a waste of time. Probably also has to do with timing, there is much fun games to play at the moment so you know you can do so much fun things instead of just staring at a train track for 40 minutes or longer. At a certain point I felt like I could have watched a cockpit cam on Youtube and have the same experience but with better graphics. The game performs better than expected but there is no wow factor on the graphical part. If the graphics would have been notched up substantially this game would be more fun I guess but you have seen all these assets before in TSW2, it all looks basically the same. Like I had expected I don't even notice the new clouds. They are like they should be in a game that looks like this. The only positive thing I can say is that TSW3 looks like TSW2 should have looked.
I had a bit of a shaky start with it 4 days ago since DRA seems to be a thing in this game now but I like it a lot. The dynamic weather is good, although I think the build-up of ground snow is too fast. This has been the first time I have played Spirit of Steam, and it is a lot better and easier to play than I thought it would be. I have loved driving the steam train on SEHS from Faversham to Dartford which is a nighttime scenario and you cannot see anything. I am looking forward to my TSW 2 DLC being added which is currently downloading as I write this. London Commuter and East Coastway are my favourite two so far, but I am not sure whether they will have dynamic weather or not.
I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far. I’m quite hard on the game at times - simply because I want it to be the best it can be (and I have very high expectations of it) - but I’ve had a great time playing it since I got early access last week.
Not really. Sehs isn't really an extension, it's called sehs extended which was essentially a rebuild of the entire route, trains, timetable, etc. The extension dtg wants is different from what sehs got.
I think the focus on high speed lines is a mistake. They tend to use only one type of train and offer few stations and stops. Give me a traditional route with express trains, semi fast trains, local passenger trains and occasional freight with some shunting any time For me it's basically £29 for a SEHS route extension so I am still on the fence...
Many people in the community wanted a true high speed route and many people requested the ice1. Players don't want a route like hma, ska and lgv where you slowly speed up and then slow down and then be done in 30min or less. Players want a proper high speed route where you can stay at high speed for a while instead of doing it briefly with the routes we have. We've already had too many traditional routes imo and dtg should make a variety of types of routes instead of doing 1
Sure we all want the fastest trains. It's probably the image of an HST that drove my attention to TSW2. But ... they are so boring to drive. Normally the German routes are my favourites but this time the German route is not my favourite. Sure Kassel is a good route for HST but boring for a starter pack.
I just wanted to thank DTG for bringing us so much fun with this TSW3. I really have confidence in the future of this simulator. I've been using Railworks since the beginning and I think TSW3 is really great. Thanks to all the teams. Greetings from FRANCE Denis
I‘m enjoying it a lot. I enjoy German routes and the new PZB helper has really helped me learn it. It’s made me revisit quite a few older DLC. Also really enjoying the ICE 1.
