OK so I am now learning PZB and et al. I did the ICE 1 LZB training module and got confused by it. I will run it again and again until I manage to do it to a point where I am happy with it. I will be watching TrainSim-Matt s tutorials and trying to get used to PZb. I did run LZB and PZb from Burghsin on the ICE breaker scenario. I did ok until 1.2km outside Wurzburg where I triggered a 1000 hertz magnet. But was guided by the on screen prompts. Its going to be a long road I think and a lot of fails. I'm just wondering if the other German TSW2 legacy routes will also have these onscreen prompts on them when I play them with the safety systems on? Hentis
I just don’t understand about these “magnets”. I know it is true to real life but it really puts me off trying these safety systems. Hopefully, once I download and play TSW3, the videos will help me.
I learned PZB using Matts tutorials. It’s a mine field to get your head around. If you pass a magnet, be that for a yellow light, or a speed reduction and your 85/70/55 dashboard light is flashing, get your speed under that before the next magnet. there is a quick reference here on page 22 this is what I used. https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic....eg_Nord_Driver's_Manual_-_EN.pdf?t=1577184497 And a little reading about PZB. Trust me though. Once you do a full run without activation. It’s magical!
I used Matts video way back and was not to bad with it. But I would have to watch it again to get reminders. One tip for you that I recommend is to record it. Then when something goes wrong and you don't know what you did wrong, or didn't do, you can watch your recording to see what the problem was.
Hey Henits, good on you for trying to learn the German safety systems. It'll certainly add to your level of enjoyment once you get how they work. Your question is a good one. I don't if the older routes are also gonna have the new HUD messages about PZB. I don't know if that question was ever posed and answered in the few preview streams. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I wouldn't be suprised if only the new routes will have this feature. As for learning PZB, I learned before the Matt video and used these two youtube guides. Plus a lot of practise off course:
That's how we all started. I'd recommend starting with very basic knowledge and just driving (also still stand by recommending RSN for learning). Yes, there'll be many emergency brake applications, but don't be stressed out - use them to learn. Whenever you're stopped, make sure to understand why you were stopped (using resources like the ones in my signature) and you've already taken a step towards mastering PZB. When you start off, you'll probably feel the need to memorise a lot of stuff and rules but let me reassure you, PZB is quite simple and straightforward if you understand the underlying logic and reasoning. PZB is neither magical nor random - that's the beauty of it. TLDR: PZB seems complicated at the start but is actually very simple once you've practised.
It’s very rewarding when you pick it up. I run with all safety systems on now having learned it a couple of years back. A lot of the questions in my streams and videos are about German safety systems so you are definitely not on your own mate
I've done a few high speed runs on SKW now using LZB and AFB and I really like it. It took me a few tries to understand why I was loosing points for overspeeding but now I understand it. PZB on the other hand, I ran a full 1hr run with LZB and PZB on and got the same PZB magnet and emergency braking. I really need to learn more about PZB as I really want to run with it on SKW and other routes once they come to TSW3.
The only advice I can give is just play with them on. Yes, you’ll fail a few times, but the more practice you get the better you’ll become. I use the safety systems now on all German content and get so much more out of it.
I’d focus on passenger services to start with. All you need to remember then is, press circle every time you see yellow on any signal, or a significant reduction in speed marker (upside down yellow triangle). Once pressed, you have 23 seconds to decelerate to under 85km/h - although as soon as you see the yellow signal, you should start to slow down at that point. If approaching a red signal, you need to be below 25km/h 500 meters prior to the red signal. When starting off from a red, you must remain under 25km/h until you pass the signal (even if it’s now green).
There is a better method is using the PC Community PC Keyboard since you have a dedicated button for PZB Acknowledgement Page Down. PS5 Circle Xbox B button also resets Sifa Every time you press it you will hear Zugsbeeinflussung when Sifa is reset. That's why I use a keyboard for German and future ÖBB routes. Afb R key decrease speed f key increase speed turn on Control Shift R Because in some cases it will not work the immersion setting buttons for Xbox Series x Xbox one PS4 & PS5
I have just learned PZB on HRR. It's good route to learn it I think: it's short, services are fast (with DB BR425 especially), there are 3 major stations armed with PZB magnets: Duisburg, Essen and Bochum. Also, I would recommend to learn it on TSW2 if you can, because of save game feature being available. What I used to do when I was learning I was saving my game about 2,5-3 kilometeres before one of those major stations so in case PZB have applied emergency breaking I could load the game and understand, why did that happened. Save game is working there flawlasly on HRR, also with all layers being populated from MSB and DB BR 101.
The only reason against HRR is the abundance of GPA magnets. I think it's easier to learn the basics and then add more advanced stuff (like GPAs) on top but to each their own.
Have you also tried Riesa-Dresden Schnellfahrstrecke Köln Aachen and Main Spessart Bahn. I learned PZB on Main Spessart Bahn TSW 2020 Xbox Version without a Keyboard plugged onto the Xbox Series X. Later on Schnellfahrstrecke Köln Aachen Riesa Dresden with Keyboard plugged into the Xbox to get PZB keys.
Not yet, HRR is actually the first German route I'm running, I've bought MSB and DB BR101 so I have still a lot to do there SKA will probably be next on my list to visit, just waiting for another sale to buy Journey Expansion Pack adn RRO to have more AI trains there. Have you found it more comfortable to use keyboard with console for PZB?
My three tips for learning PZB would be to firstly watch Matt’s fantastic tutorial, then hook up a USB keyboard and then just get out there on the german routes and try it out. The more mistakes you make, the quicker you will learn I’m still no expert and still get caught out from time to time, but I am quite comfortable with the systems on now.
Correct because you don't get the problem of PZB saying Zugsbeeinflussung 146.2 101 185 Austrian German Chris Lohner 182 for Sifa reset. Furthermore you can actually release and yourself without going to scroll for the button
I did. The coupling of SIFA and PZB is quite annoying on a controller and really should be a thing of the past with the immersion controls.
