Menu Colour Scheme And Contrast

I am not a fan of the new white background black writing menus, I wish there was an option for dark mode or to make the text more bold. I'm visually impaired and it's quite difficult to look at

 

It had me stumped for a brief moment, as I was associating grey as the selected option and not white.

 

yeah, a softer, darker theme would be quite helpful.
