Hey everyone, New to the game and to the genre sorta but Ive had my head curious in train sims before. Im trying to figure out the DLC situation for this game and maybe how the legacy stuff works too as I've never played TSW2. Basically, Im interested in Diesel Legends of the Great West. The Microsoft store listing states "Train Sim World 2: Great Western Express is required, as a separate purchase, in order to utilise the content featured in this add-on." Does this mean a $25 has another step of $25 DLC? Is this something they are eventually going to work away from in future updates? I recalled seeing something that said that TSW will let you buy the routes and locos that you want. *shrug* I know DLC has always been a topic of hot debate but I just wanted to wrap my head around the best approach to maximizing my money and not buy inefficiently.
Diesel legends does indeed require Great Western Express to work as it uses everything from there. The diesel legends pack will be cheaper due to it not being an entirely new route, just a different timetable with different locos. Best advice is, if you want diesel legends which required great western express, wait for a sale as it will be cheaper for you to buy both items. Oh wait, you said Microsoft store so sales there are very rare. In previous versions of TSW, locos were tied to the routes they were released for and that is still the case for what is now known as the TSW Compatible collection (previously preserved collection). With TSW3, they are hoping to make it so that any new standalone loco releases will not be tied to a specific route.
At least I get a flat 10% off from it being on Game Pass (for now). As long Im not misunderstanding anything, thats fair(ish). The real take away is that completion of the achievement "Complete the Class 465 scenario 'Temporary Contract'" is causing the achievement "Complete the GWB Class 101 Introduction training module" of the Diesel Legends pack to unlock for Xbox/PC Game Pass players. MEANING to maintain 100% completion of DLC achievement, I'd need to drop $50 because the base game + the Southeastern Highspeed DLC doesnt include a GWB Class 101. The wrong event is triggering a completion of an achievement.
If that's the case then I'd pop over to the technical forum and file a report there about the wrong achievements popping for the wrong routes.
