I was so sad yesterday, so so sad. However, our new King’s speech has lifted my spirits. What a masterclass in delivery. I have to say I was doubtful in the past but I think he’s going to serve us as a true king. I do not envy his position.
I’m glad he’s made William Prince of Wales straight away. It was likely at some point but wasn’t expecting it quite so soon. Kate gets a promotion to Princess as well. I thought she should have been when they got married but apparently she couldn’t because William didn’t have an official title of Prince (despite his styling). She was born in the same hospital as my eldest son as well so I’m claiming some reflected glory
I've been a Royalist all my life and will be forever but I do have concerns with King Charles III. I grew up liking him very much and share his love for the Goon Show but with the divorce from Diana left me with doubt. He has also gone on to spout political views which his mother rarely ever did if at all and he has some strange agenda's imo and with him recently accepting Suitcases of cash as donations from the Arabs do not fill me with confidence. Saying that his speech was far better than expected and he also said NOT to join the WEF which was welcome even though I'm not sure he should get involved. If he can go on the way he has started then perhaps he might prove a worthy successor to his mother but time will tell, I really hope so anyway. And yes it was great to see William and Kate make Prince and Princess.
I agree with you there although it’s been the same throughout history. The prince of wales has always been traditionally a thorn in the side of the monarch, often threatening to go astray and leading the family into disrepute. But it’s a good induction into the role of being a monarch and no doubt makes them a better monarch with the mistakes they make as a prince/princess. It’s that fine balance that makes the monarchy stable and secure. Probably the worst example was King George the IV who was a terrible prince of wales and thus one of our worst kings. Even acting as regent for his father George the III did little to temper him.
It seems peculiar thinking we have a king. It’s like suddenly finding out I’m actually a caterpillar, it’s intriguing (though the extra shoe bill is daunting when you’re a size 14.5)
Nothing to do with the English royal family, but there's a good Balkan insult - "may your wife give birth to a caterpillar and you have to work the rest of your life to buy shoes"
Not to worry, you'll eventually morph into a butterfly. Unfortunately, that only gives you about 2 to 3 weeks to play TSW3 before you're eaten by a spider. Of course, if you emerge as a large butterfly like a Monarch, you could possibly live to see the save game and download manager, if they come within about nine months. Kind of iffy, though, if you get my drift.
