Aws/tpws On Hs1

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by dangerousdave, Sep 21, 2022.

  1. Whats the official requirement of using aws/tpws on hs1 under tvm signalling, does anyone know? Personally I switch it off and from what I gather its not required under tvm signalling.

I see lots of people suffering from emergency brake applications on sehs.
Just wondering if this is the result of using aws/tpws when they shouldn't be?

Can dtg shed some light on this please?

There is no AWS/TPWS on TVM sections, having the AWS & TPWS systems armed in the cab will not effect this.

When you are approaching domestic tracks, they are usually protected by an AWS magnet which is always on, to remind you that you are now back under AWS/TPWS.

Any emergency braking happening whilst you are under TVM is because of a DSD trip or failure to adhere to TVM speeds.

  3. In real life maybe having aws activated under tvm signalling will have no effect but on tsw if aws is off I can depart from ebbsfleet on the up line no problem with aws activated I get a emergency brake application.
