Milton Keynes is located 50 miles out from London Euston and I feel like it will be a brilliant way to add the amazing WCML to TSW3 and with the addition of the Watford DC line it would add lots of playability with a very unique route for this game. Rolling Stock: The first and obviously choice for this route is the class 390 “pendolino” in Avanti West Coast livery. These trains were built by Alstom between 2001-2004 originally for Virgin Trains to replace their old HST, Class 87 and Class 90 sets to give a faster service along the WCML. The train would additionally have the new Avanti interior refurb along with the special Progress and Protect Nature liveries for this train. My second “commuter” choice for this route would be the Class 350 “Desiro” built by Siemens between 2004-2005 and would be in the London Northwestern Railway livery. These trains operate the stopping services on the WCML as far as Crewe and are the workhorse of the LNWR fleet. The train bow doesn’t necessarily have to be included but it would be Preferred The final new bit of rolling stock for this route would be the Class 710 “Aventra” which was built for TFL’s London Overground by Bombardier (now Alstom Uk) between 2017-2020, with the first examples entering service on the 23rd May 2019. These trains would be a good addition for use on the Watford DC line because it would be nice to see some representation of the latest generation of trains on the British Rail network (also because people are getting sick of Electrostars, tho I am not one of those people) and it would be nice to finally get some London Overground Action for TSW One piece of rolling stock that they could reuse in is the Class 66 for freight trains along the WCML, however if they were to do this I would prefer it if they gave us a new livery for these locos such as Freightliner (green or orange) or GBRf as it would add the freight services that use this route also adding to the bustling mainline feel. I haven’t included a picture for this one because I’m sure we ALL know what a 66 looks like at this point Loco DLC options: For this route I feel like there are two obvious candidates for DLCs with the first one being the Class 221 “Super Voyager” Built by Bombadier Transportation between 2001-2002. These trains run additional Avanti services to Scotland and Birmingham and would help to add extra variety of passenger trains to the route and fill out the timetable. My final choice of loco DLC is the Class 90 in freightliner livery. Built between 1987-1990 originally for the WCML these locomotives are now primarily owned by Freightliner and used on intermodal services across the country where possible and have replaced their fleet of Class 86s, these would be perfect for this route as not only were they built for it but it would finally give us a new UK modern freight loco And that concludes my suggestion, I hope you enjoyed reading it and I would very interested to know what you thought about it. Until next time, Twiggy
Personally I would like the WCML set in the early 80’s, pre BR sectorisation. Class 86 or 87 on loco hauled expresses, Class 310 EMUs on the outer suburban services and Class 501 units on the DC Lines, along with reworked Rivet 1938 stock for the Bakerloo which at that time still ran through to Watford Jn in the peaks.
WCML South remains my dream route for TSW3. I probably wouldn't play any other route if it came out with a detailed timetable from Joe.
WCML South Also uses Class 92 which is also TVM-430 equipped for HS1 and Channel Tunnel freight. On this route Freight and Caledonian Sleeper service. Mail train the Class 325. Want to get a network out of this merge Bakerloo Line with WCML South Watford DC Line combined length is 63 miles (49 miles Euston to Milton Keynes + 14 miles Bakerloo Line) which makes it tied to CSX Kingsport Subdivision the Clinchfield RR also 63 miles.
I agree with you, the only route that could overtake this route would be ECML south or GEML with a Joe timetable
This comment made me smile and it's such a small and pathetic thing I am smiling about: you suggested including the 319 and the time you posted your comment was 3:19. I told you it was something rather pathetic but this has really brightened me up after a long and stressful day. Also the 319 would be nice to have.
That’s is one of the most wholesome comments I’ve ever seen on this forum I can completely see why that made you smile
