Hello, everyone, In general, I welcome this new feature very much and especially that the tutorials can now be deselected! But to be honest, I'm also bothered by the fact that scenarios are also loaded. If I wanted to play a senarios, I would choose it specifically - unlike a random timetable service! Or how much do you think so? When using Quick-Play in the past few days, I've always been lucky enough to get a tutorial. After three attempts I gave up. Now they can be switched off - but not the scenarios. And today, you can hardly believe it, I got three scenarios in a row! But I only expected a purely random timetable service, nothing else... It wouldn't be half as wild if you had a "next" option right away. So you have to go back to the main menu and then a new index will be created in the background. I think one index per session should be enough, right? This only delays the loading times (PS4) and it takes about 15 minutes to redial three times. I could have driven half a quick game in that time... As I said, I really like the new feature, but the scenarios really bother me. What do you think, should they also be deselected? Greeting...
When it was first announced I thought there would be a function to run Quick Play again from the same screen if you didn't like its selection, and also to run Quick Play from within a specific route. Perhaps I misheard. It has a curious way of selecting services. I have LBN and thought I would be getting those services a lot due to sheer numbers. However, recently I got the CJP Shop Class scenario three times in a row through Quick Play. I would support removing Scenarios and having Quick Play for Timetables only, but I usually finish secanrios first so it doesn't really effect me either way.
I've already asked myself that question. Are services that have already been used still offered? And as you say - is it still a coincidence if the same thing appears three times in a row? And even if you have already completed it. As it looks, a simple random number generator is working here, which also re-indexes with each call. That would even make sense if services already completed in the meantime are excluded. As it is, it seems to be quite a mess. I am sure that you can hide scenarios like the tutorials. They seem to have a "flag". However, this should also apply to services that have already been completed, i.e. that these then also have a flag and can be excluded by indexing. The only question is - what happens when you have completed ALL services? I am shown over 10000 services, of which I have completed ~400. There is no need for a reset that quickly. But what about users who are new or have little DLC at all? An option would therefore be needed to choose whether to select only between open services or all services. This requires an extra button and the script has to be adjusted. Not a big deal for sure, but I'm also interested in how DTG thinks about it?
I seem to recall that at one point we had the idea of having it show the name of the random gameplay BEFORE you clicked - so i'll find out where that went, and then in adding a "re-roll" option shouldn't be hard Let me talk to UI team and see about getting something on their todo list. Matt.
It shouldn't put you into anything you've already completed before - so if it is, that's a bug. i'll get someone to check it - and i'll ask what happens if there's nothing found also
Hi Matt, nice to hear from you! You know, when you have so much DLC, it can be hard to decide where to ride again? Which route? Which train? Hmmm... That's where the "Quick-Play" comes in handy! I have no plan and no strategy but I am spoiled for choice. Tutorials don't make sense here and Scenarious are also specific, as are the Journeys. They should remain untouched. And of course everything already completed. So it would make sense imho. But whenever I used this feature, it was such services that I would not have chosen, but then accepted as my task. That's a welcome challenge for me. A depot ride? Put the train together? Sort something again? Yeah, why not! Let's do it! Or next an S-Bahn. Something completely different. ok doki... This feature has potential and is fun! But it's just too random. With some finishing touches it will be a pearl!
Here's an update: As noted, I frequently got the "Shop Class" scenario for the under 30 Quick Play. However, I did occasionally see other services as well. After finally completing Shop Class, Quick Play seemed to work normally. However, then I got the RHTT, and "Dawn of the Shed" started showing up in Quick Play less than 30. Every. Single. Time. So I didn't use Quick Play anymore, until I got around to completing Dawn of the Shed. Excited to finally have Quick Play back, I was disappointed when it loaded a Harlem service that I had already completed to gold. Quick Play isn't integral to the game, but in it's current state, it does not perform as advertised and is fairly useless.
I welcomed this new feature, but I always get one of the free roam scenarios which I'm the least interested in. So unfortunately it's quite useless like this. Please include timetable services too.
