Among other interesting initiatives we have
4 new entries into the Roadmap
    • New UK route
    • New US locomotive
    • New DE route
    • New UK route (developed by Rivet Games)
I am thrilled we are having a new UK route but disappointed that Rivet are also doing a UK route as well. That’s something I will not be buying, until West Cornwall scenery, has been improved to look like West Cornwall and not West Corny as it is at present. I have no confidence in Rivet producing a decent resemblance of any UK route, unlike their locomotives which are always first class and wish they would concentrate on improving their recently released TSW routes first.

It is going to a very interesting and informative stream at 19.00 UTC tonight.

Can’t wait for hundreds of people on the stream posting and spamming “Can you release …. Route” no matter how many times the mods tell them to put their suggestion in the forum. I’ve missed that since the last Roadmap stream.

Good to see new UK routes, even if like others I'm sceptical about Rivet cabability of bringing a good UK route to TSW.

What I find even more interesting is that ATS is coming to TSW franchise (and Just Trains also, I somehow missed this one). I am curious of the quality of TSW routes/locos they will be able to deliver.

Don't think so cuz rivet would have said something by now if they worked on it. They helped with cathcart but that's pretty much it i believe

They worked on Cathcart Circle (I believe they worked on the stations). Maybe that’s what you’re thinking about.

your probably right I just thought the quality of the route building is pretty poor on SEHS when compared to the German and US routes

Rivet helped in SEHX. I've heard them mention about Rivet worked on SEHX in the SEHX preview stream

They are visually magnificent. Their physics and sounds have...issues.

To be honest. Bug fixes should be the priority and not new routes.

Listen to last night's stream... there are multiple teams working on the major fixes, Adam's team concentrating on minor fixes...
Bugs are being prioritised, but lets not forget bug fixes don't keep the company afloat, so they could fix all the bugs and run out of money at the same time so we get nothing at all

Not the "multiple teams" thing again. We hear this since the beginning of TSW. Fact is there never was a major effort to concentrate on bugs. Devs working on new content could also help fix bugs.
Game is still full of bugs and badly optimized

I agree to some extent. But they have lost a customer (me) for TSW3 due to one thing which has bugged me for yonks and was supposedly being worked on for yonks - that is the stuttering. It drives me round the bend. Seems TSW3 still has that issue. No more purchases from me :-(

With bugs going back all the way to legacy content, like TVL, and all the issues with Spirit Of Steam just carried forward into TSW3 one could be forgiven for not really believing there is a massive commitment to fixing old stuff.

Then we just know that the new routes will probably launch with various bugs and untested scenarios or Journey runs that cannot be completed.

The stuttering is inherent in Unreal Engine.

Of course the new content will also have bugs and they will just add to the pile. Tons of old bugs are still not fixed and yes, the bad optimization and stuttering is also still there and was in TSw and TSW2 already.

This is true to an extent, but now I know better. As I understand it now, it's because UE has a tendency to default to running processes on the main thread, where the renderer is (especially problematic if the developer relies too much on blueprints). But by programming for multi-threading, to move processes away from the main thread, the stuttering can be resolved.

So, I would at this point take an edumacated guess that they simply have too much anchored to a single main CPU thread, and they need to do multi-thread optimisation, which could be a lot of work – albeit ultimately worth it (and in no way requiring a fourth iteration of the franchise to implement).

What is interesting to me about this, is that the DE route is displayed as AC electric. But Niddertahlbahn isn't. So whatever is going on here, it's exciting!

I'm no expert on the Unreal Engine. I do know lots of games use it and it seems to work well.. But effectively that makes it unfit for purpose (assuming your assertion is true that UE is responsible for stutters)... well unfit for this purpose i.e. TSW. I bought virtually all the TSW2 DLC. There were minor stutters/niggles. But I think (but not sure) the really bad stuff kicked in with the Rush Hour release which (again I think) pushed the UE release to a newer one. SInce then, I've hardly touched the game. And given London Commuter is probably the best DLC yet, that says something. It is a prime stutter culprit. I really want to get on board with these new features such as the dynamic weather etc. But for me it's a definite not touching TSW3 till I hear that basic stuff has been resolved,

Niddertahlbahn wasn't being created by dtg lol. Jd confirmed it is 3rd party. It could be coming much later since it isn't on the roadmap
