Sorry to tell you this but........ The theme does not have to be followed to the letter, you can interpret it however you wish, that is why this whole contest was started in the first place. Please do not start spoiling this thread by criticising other entries, it is up to the judge of the week to decide and no one else.
60 029 "Ben Nevis", named after the highest mountain in the UK, is passed by a GWR class 803 Swansea bound express service. Well it is a mountain being passed. LOL Locos:- Class 60 / Class 803 Route:- South Wales Main Line
Yes, hear hear. Dragoner - remember your place, please. I wouldn't dream of critiquing other entries if you were the judge, and I ask that you show me the same courtesy.
I get what he ment, but i thought it might be something different, and it is still a mountainous region, only not that extreme. For me personally everything above 50m is quite high and the screenshot would be at around 650m above sea level i think.
Don, totally ignore whatever Dragoner says. He has a history / reputation for disrupting threads by thinking he is some form of self appointed moderator / judge. He has been told on numerous occasions on the Official screenshot forum, so now he has chosen to start disrupting this one. It has absolutely nothing to do with Dragoner what you post, so please feel free to continue contributing whatever you want, you do not have to justify yourself to any of us, especially not Dragoner. We welcome new contributers like yourself that think outside the box. PS, I really like your shot as you say, something different & why not.
A Moutainous passing of US heavyweights. Locos:- UP EMD SD70ASe x3 / BNSF ES44DC x3 Route:- Tehachapi Pass
Don, just to add to cscarpenter's post, we are into the second year of running this comp, something like 75 weekly competitions, and today is the first time anyone has chosen to criticise an entry from another contributer so please don't take it personally this is not the usual way this comp works. To all of us regular contributers:- May I propose the rules are ammended accordingly to nip this in the bud and to stop any type of negative comment from becoming the Norm? This has always been a happy go lucky / anything goes / fun thread & long may it stay that way. Cheers
Totally agree. How about adding something along the lines of:- The Judge of the week's decision is final. Under no circumstances will any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributer be tollerated." Let's keep this being the happy place we all enjoy.
please don't feel you have to justify yourself - I'm the judge, I've got no issues with your entry, it has just as much chance as any of his shots of winning.
yes TSW. No idea if it’s wrong. . It came up as new posts. Didn’t notice any specific forum designation. I can delete it.
Don't think I can enter this week. I can't seem to find my screenshots since upgrading to an SSD, even though the screenshot folder hasn't changed under steam (it's still on my D drive (HDD). Also, the ones that I can find aren't named now and just numbered which is a pain.
I was thinking about a picture from a completely flat place, titled "politics entry", but... Adding this one instead
Aww that's a shame, hope you are going to be able to locate them. If it helps the file path on my machine is:- Whichever you are using?:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\1091870579\760\remote\24010\screenshots Hope that may help, Good luck
Cheers Craig. Yes, it seems that is where they are going despite the fact that I have set the screenshot folder to somewhere else. Before I upgraded to the SSD and moved the install files etc across to the new drive, they were being put in the folder I wanted and they were named by route.
Thank you all for your entries! Been a great week, and privilege to judge. In 5th place, we have this lovely shot by Blazin. I liked the composition, and how the train and bridge draw your eye in. In 4th place, we have this serene-looking shot by LimeyFox, of what I assume is the Western Lines of Scotland. Loved the reflections and the composition. In 3rd place, is this great shot by I'm a railfan obviously of a Talent 2 negotiating the mighty Bavarian Alps. I really liked the verticality of this shot, with the tracks, forest and mountains above. This could have won had it not cut the peaks off at the top, but nevertheless a really nice shot. In 2nd place is this atmospheric shot by triznya.andras. I loved the way the mountain looms over the train, really good way of showing off the terrain these passes have to be cut through. I have to award 1st place though to last week's judge, Craigie-C, for a superb shot of a DB 181 cutting through an alpine gorge. The lighting is very good, the composition is good, and it shows off very well the difficult terrain and beauty of the area. It was just what I had in mind.
Oh wow, cheers bellminsterboy an unexpected surprise this is, to say the least. There was some seriously good entries from all yet again. How ironic you chose my winning shot, seriously at 8:00pm tonight I was going to replace one of my shots for this:- The fact my winning shot had one less like than the rest made it up for the chop. So glad I didn't change it. Must admit you had the baptism of fire this week as first time judge with all the controversy going on but you did us all proud, well done. Right I need to think of a new theme so am going with the winning backup theme of "Reproduce a photo" it just ticks every box for me. Good luck to all [EDIT] Here you go guys https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-contest-2022-week-40.60527/ I have also edited the rules to hopefully put a halt on the negative comments we have had to endure this week, Good luck to all and most of all , Have Fun.
Thanks for your comments, I have added your suggested ammendments to the rules section. Hopefully we can put a stop to the LOVE we have had to put up with this week.
It’s the Kyle Line. Bit of a trundle but the scenery is stunning. Thank you for the recognition and 4th place, much appreciated. It was actually just a screenshot that came out very nicely when I looked back at it
