Would it be a good idea to have some sort of scout vehicle to negotiate the ginormous yards in the USA? Running around on foot takes ages. Pump cart Or permaquip personel carrier
This is a neat idea and would be welcomed for some interesting and unusual non-haul scenarios, but these vehicles are used for inspection and maintenance transport rather than as shuttles for lazy brakemen. LOL ;-) We love our "speeders" ;-) Some folks even collect them and go on rail tours with them as a club....
Those are some fine looking rail vehicles. I'm not lazy just impatient lol. Would make it easier to go on Easter egg hunts.
I've heard that people use the Class 08 to do this in Scenario Planner. I don't have it so can't comment on how good it is. How would this be integrated in the timetable?
I got the class 8, I've tried scouting about in it, but it's still a big engine. have no idea about the time table, maybe just have it spawned in all the yards somewhere.
I find yards easier to navigate on foot though, and a space taken up by a scout is one that could be used by a rake of wagons after all!
I had a small idea about them adding a car that would be parked near railyards and if you approach it, it will give you the option to teleport to any point of the map that is accessible by road. Basically, your personal vehicle essentially. However, your idea is much cooler!
This has merit too, perhaps a company truck? But as you imply, it wouldn't be as much fun as a speeder.
