Celebrate 100 years of the most famous steam locomotive in the world with Train Simulator Classic! Read More : Flying Scotsman Centenary Pack Coming Soon (dovetailgames.com)
So an updated Scotsman with new scenarios for ECML dedicating both the loco and the station at Kings Cross. This should be interesting
I am more than sure that beautiful steam locomotive will be, but with sounds that are not even close to railway (I will be surprised if it is not so, kek)
Not a fan of the visual updates, looks overly shiny, it reminds me of that shine new Trainz content had circa 2006. Also seems to have darkened the livery, it was already kind of dark in the old version, but it's hard to even tell it's green in some of these screenshots.
I want to know where abouts DTG will be at kings Cross Station on Platform 8 where the loco itself will be or somewhere in the middle of the station for everyone to come and have a go at driving the game
To DTG Jamie. I hate to say it. but that reskin was made by me, and is made publicly FREE on my Website. https://stglorianagamingcollege.jimdofree.com/the-erecting-shop/lner-reskins/ I've reached out to your enquires email address at Dovetail Games, but with no response yet.
Thank you for letting us know. We're investigating this (I don't have access to the Enquiries email so haven't seen your email).
Not sure how DTG would have stolen a reskin, although there are differences between the two and from the screenshots DTG's looks darker than the alleged stolen original, so we'll have to wait about that one. As for the pack itself... Well, the difference between the TSW Mark 1 BG and the Kuju Mark 1s is very big and jarring.
DTG own all the intellectual rights to anything used within their game, yes we the community create things sometimes even from scratch but as soon as you use their templates, blueprint, scripting, the editor and even if only using the game to capture a screenshot of your work then you come under their licencing. If this is indeed a third party reskin used by DTG then at best all they'd need do is credit the skin author but I doubt even legally they'd have to.
Interesting insight. So while it wouldn't be popular for them to use the reskin without permission they can do it anyway? What about AP content?
Put it this way, do you really believe AP could have said no to DTG using the AP158 enhancements in the HL? Of course I'm sure they amicably consulted and (as we know) credited AP for their work but still. The point here is I'm not saying DTG are the big bad corporation that will send Armani suited lawyers to your door for daring to deny them usage of your creations but the point remains that they (DTG) do own all the rights to anything associated with their game or it's content no matter how big or popular a 3rd party content creator you are. At the end of the day AP, JT, ATS, I_make_skinz_4_LoLz are all weapons in DTG's arsenal of keeping this game current and profitable, that's why they'll undoubtably look into the TheErectingShops claims and have no issues with crediting him if credits due, it's all about keeping the fires burning and the wheels turning.
Thank you, I hope to hear a response from your team. And for clarification... My reskin was made back in 2021. I'm aware of the Terms of Use and EULA, but it should be fair to at least credit the work if DTG were to sell it, I've seen the manuals in DLCs to find the people who worked on the DLC in the acknowledgements. This was the screenshot from your live.dovetail.com website And mine to compare. Apart from my game having different weather and lighting, its as close as I'm gonna get. Very much the buffers (with those blackened indent/scratches) themselves are a dead giveaway that its obviously copied and pasted textures from my reskin. Anyways, I hope this gets resolved. I only ask for the people working on the Centenary Flying Scotsman DLC to credit my work. Thanks.
And the particles. Have you got the SSS pack installed? BTW, your lighting and reflections look better to me.
They do not own all the rights - it is a bit more complicated than that. There is also the question of how much of the EULA could hold up in court.
Since no ones seems to have noticed yet I want to bring up that the images have been completely changed in the OP and article. I for one would like to know why, did they change the livery and updated the article according? Because if that were the case it seems odd they wouldn't want to say something about it, especially when there's plagiarism accusations at play here.
Yes, they have changed it to avoid problems with the person who made the reskin. For something that may have only been made in a few days (assuming they started work last Friday when the creator revealed the reskin was stolen) it looks good; the previous livery was much too dark. Of course, if DTG stole one of my reskins I'd just ask for 75% royalties.
I agree the new one looks better. Maybe it was being worked on, but wasn't ready in time and they used someone else's in the pre-release publicity? Or maybe someone was being lazy and didn't tell the boss they'd scraped somebody else's design? We'll never know, but at least they've got there in the end, with their own design being the one going on sale.
For £12 I don't see the point. When it's on sale I'll get it, but for less you can get both the original Flying Scotsman packs which are the same model (probably the same features too) and have four liveries and multiple tender variations. The only good thing about this pack is if the Mark 1s are the TSW Mark 1s rather than the Kuju ones, not that it matters because the AP ones are better anyway.
You think DTG would have made the model as it is today. Flying Scotsman has the Air Brakes and the pipes are shown but the Vacuum Pipe is missing
