I could not find a manual like other lines, but I did find the guide. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " Harlem Line Gameplay Guide Print Modified on: Thu, 1 Sep, 2022 at 11:39 AM The Harlem Line as part of the Metro North Railroad does not use many physical signals in comparison to other routes. Generally, you will only find signals at "interlockings" (junctions), as that is the only place its essential for a train to be commanded to stop. At any other time, the trains are slowed by the in-cab signalling, so the engineer can run on sight. Cab signalling does not have the capability to stop the train at all, only slow it to Restricting. Therefore, even if you are driving without safety systems enabled it will be important to pay attention to what the in-cab signalling is telling you. This information is also covered in the M3A and M7A introductions, which we highly recommend player's complete before tackling other scenarios or services. These introductions can be accessed from Main Menu > Harlem Line > Explore >Training. The following is an explanation to what each of the lights mean when lit up on the cab dashboard. N means "follow the track speed" - you will need to follow the limit on the display unit, or on the HUD next to "ACSES". L means "Limited" and means go no more than 45mph, brake down to it immediately if needed. M means "Medium" and means go no more than 30mph. R means "Restricting", and means go no more than 15mph (In addition, under Restricting you are also obliged to "drive on sight" - there will always be at least one full section ahead of you without obstruction at 15mph but after that there probably is something so on an R drive being prepared to stop on sight.)" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the Guides Help I went and ran a line, but every time the Cab signal changes to a lower speed. I don't feel there is enough time to respond without forcing the train into a full emergency stop. My goal is to play this game without the digital Hud. When I turn the help hud off the Hudson line is almost unplayable as each time a slow down is needed there is no signage and the Cab signaling system changes to a slower rate of speed there is no response time to slow down and resume travel. I'm forced to stop and reset everything. Anyone have experience with this?
IIRC, as soon you get the reduction notification/alarm, you need to apply brakes at the "suppression" level until you're under the new speed limit, at which point you can reduce or release brakes as needed. You also have to acknowledge all speed reductions even if you're already under the new limit. I play with a controller and acknowledge defaults to the "B" button- not sure what the keyboard binding is.
If I understand correctly, brakes to suppression, hit the alerter, once under speed limit back to the intended power setting.
Thank you, this guide has much more detail than the one I found. This guide should be included with the package...
I am driving with new miniHUD, which is great and all, but I would like to anticipate speed changes better... and since there are few physical signals, there must be other ways - like spotting safety system track equipment for example... I know yellow boxes should belong to ACSES, but what are the grey/white boxes for then? I know that ACSES is distance based, and different number of boxes can mean more things... so if you have any tips on how to spot possible speed change, let me know... also, from where does ATC receive its signal data? thx
Generally, you have to brake enough to meet “Brake assurance rate” on the M7As, in order to cancel an over speed penalty. Not doing so in time will result in the brakes not releasing, and the train coming to a stop. You also do the same when the cab signal drops to a lower aspect. Satisfy brake assurance and cancel the alarm by pressing Q once under the cab signal speed.
