Alright boy's, new game, new Acela suggestion thread! So let us start with the most important of questions, Why? Well, we haven't really had an Acela entry into the Train Simulator franchise since the original one back in tsc was released (and no, I don't count that one included with NEC Baltimore, it is the same train with different sounds), which is now about to reach it's ten year mark may I remind you. It would also work good with TSW 3's new feature of allowing the use of loco dlc independently without having to own the route. When? Well, if we would get an Acela DLC, I would hope for it to be around a half a year to maybe a year away, that way it gets that quality assurance, and can operate on any new NEC routes that may come out. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, lets get on to the deets. The Train: This is the Acela Express. The Acela Express trainset comes in at a staggering 1,246,000 lb's, with a top operating speed of 150 mph, and can operate on 25 kv AC at 60 hz, 12.5 kv AC at 60hz, and 12 kv AC at 25 hz. The Acela also has two power car's on each end that have 6169 hp each, and are equiped with a hybrid k5la airhorn. The Acela run's on the NEC in it's entirety, from Boston to Baltimore. The Acela also has tilting passenger cars that increase the overall speed of the train, however, the tilt only activates at above 25 mph. Sample of the Horn: The Cab: This Is the cab of this beautiful beast. The pictures don't do it enough justice, it really does feel like a spaceship when your in it, and imagine how it would look to drive! Oh speaking of drive here's a cab ride video: Conclusion For me (and yes I am a bit bias), I would love to have this train in train simulator. I think it's an addon that would use the features implemented (such as the tilt mechanism, overhauled lighting, and that feature where when your coming out of the tunnel everything is very bright) very well, and could be used as a way to show off the power of TSW 3 when it comes to realistic simulation, and great graphics. Bring it on and for DTG why not sell this as a rush hour train pack for TSW2 & TSW 3 Rush Hour route owners? If they went with Rush Hour train pack option BML Gets Class 700 ICE-T is for Riesa-Dresden and this one Acela Express Boston
I think the Acela would definitely be a good fit I hope they’ll extend the route down to Connecticut or New York maybe include Connecticut shoreline east trains.
