Hi all, would love too see some new bombadier trains coming to tsw3. Specifically: the fairly new sister class sets. These trains have very distinct curvy features and operate all over the south of Britain, and can be found in the east too. These trains are operated by several southern/south eastern-based railway operators such as: South Western Railway, (FirstGroup , MTR Corporation) Greater London, Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon. Greateranglia, (Ex Abellio , TfL , Nederlandse Spoorwegen) London, Greater London, Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk. London Overground, (TFL) London, Greater London. c2c (Trenitalia , Ferrovie Dello Stato Italiane) East London, South Essex. And the brand new Elizabeth Line. (TFL) London, Greater London, Surrey, Berkshire. These mighty German power-houses include: The class 701 The class 720 The class 710 And the class 345 Overall, I’d love too see these trains make an appearance some time in tsw3, as they are some of the smoothest riding and up to date trains across the British Rail Network. Thanks so much for reading Feel free to discuss in the chat.
701 Portsmouth Direct Line 710 West London & Gospel Oak to Barking Lines 345 GWML London Paddington to Swindon via Reading 720 Great Eastern Main Line London Liverpool Street to Ipswich/ WAML
The Class 710 would be best featured on a hypothetical WCML South route operating on the Watford DC lines, where it could in turn layer onto Bakerloo line for additional services there. The Class 345 and Class 720 would be great if both were included in a route such as Liverpool Street to Colchester/Ipswich/Southend, and owing to their design similarities I would naively assume making one would make making the other slightly easier. The Class 701 would be great featured on a Waterloo to Reading route, all subject to licensing approvals of course. We definitely need more 'new' trains in-game (those built in the last 10 years).
Class 345 only operate as far as Reading which is the Western limit of Elizabeth Line. Literally just got off of one from Slough to Hayes and Harlington and it was incredibly comfortable.
701's aren't in service yet, plagued by faults and union disputes. When in service they will replace the 455s, 707s and 458s on suburban services, releasing the 458s to the Portsmouth Direct line. 710's don't work the West London routes but in addition to the GOBLIN they work the Euston - Watford services alongside 378's and share the Bakerloo line form Queens Park to Harrow and Wealdstone As elarthur says, 345's go as far as Reading in the west. The next stage of the Elizabeth Line opening is in two weeks when they will run from Reading to Abbey Wood. The full opening is scheduled for May when Shenfield will also get through services from the West. Currently the Elizabeth Line runs in three sections. Paddington Main Line to Reading/Heathrow, Paddington to Abbey Wood and Liverpool Street to Shenfield, where they run on the slow lines while the 720s run on the fast.
I find the forward/backward facing seats fine, but get backache if I have to travel sideways from Slough to Paddington.
Thank you for telling me about this and where does the class 720 Liverpool street services and does it go beyond Shenfield to Colchester or Southend Airport?
Not often. The London Liverpool Street to Norwich is normally run by class 745’s and smaller greateranglia routes are operated by the 755’s. You may occasionally find a 720 at Clacton but that’s about as far as they’ll go.
I believe they cover most of the electrified Greater Anglia network out of Liverpool Street so yes, Shenfield and on to Southminster and Southend, and from Colchester on to Clacton, Walton, Harwich, Felixstowe, Ipswich. There are other branches too as well as routes towards Cambridge.
I hadn't seen your post when I replied to Driver Woods but I believe they are fairly common throughout the electrified lines on the region region with the exception of the Norwich line.
Yes sorry I completely excluded west Anglia for some reason. The class 720 will only run to certain locations towards the north on the east coast - but will run all over the west. As I live in the east I have seen them running to Southend Victoria, Colchester, Ipswich, Felixstowe, clacton etc. but not in the north-easterly direction. I believe that they only really miss Norfolk and northerly parts of Suffolk (where I am most frequently) - so completely my mistake for forgetting greateranglia’s much wider jurisdiction to the west.
If you want to be technical then it's West Anglia Main Line and GEML where Class 720 does run. Here's one on Tottenham Hale WAML The way you play Class 720 is that it's DOO to Colchester on GEML but WAML DOO the whole line. Remember to use the guard's buzzer when needed.
