I think that it is high time that we get the Class 180 DMU for semi fast services on GWE. This route has never had a period accurate dlc since its launch. This type was often used during the period reflected by the route. 180 114 in First 'Barbie' livery. 180 113 in First 'Dynamic Lines' livery. In First GWR Old Oak Common 111 Green livery during 2017.
You'll be going nowhere in the Class 180 Adelante , no, on a serious note, the 180 deserves to be implemented on Cotswold Line services to Great Malvern, Hereford, Worcester etc. Like you say, it was operated by GWR in the period GWE is set in, please Dovetail, we need a 180!!!
I never realised that the GWR green made it onto a 180. Very good suggestion and may help to relight the GWE spark.
I know because I attended the final Old Oak Common open day in 2017 before closure/demolition for the new station construction.
Great suggestion, but DTG isn't allowed to use the FGW-livery, at least with the HST and class 166. If we ever got this train, it would most likely be only in the GWR green livery.
But even that train had several cars in the Dynamic Lines livery, I think it was only the two cars that were changed so for that reason, FGW livery would still be required. Hopefully First Group are a bit more lax now about using the old livery seeing as how the GWR brand is no longer new.
What kinds of services did the 180's do between Paddington and Reading? Were they non stop like current HST services in TSW, or did they stop along the way?
Being semi fast, they stop occasionally at Slough but stop at Reading at all other times. These are unusual for DMUs in that they are geared to run at up to 125mph with most other types only rated to either 90 or 100mph.
