I am fed up with DTG! Just tried (twice), to drive BR class 146 from Koln to Aachen and spontaneous derailment twice. First time just after Koln Ehrenfield, second time just after Horrem! Now, with no fixes for Sandpatch, or Peninsula Corridor, I am prepared to give this damn game away. This, after spending over $1000:00 on the game which includes the game and 41 DLC. Caveat Emptor is the slogan and I am now VERY much aware! This firm gets no more money from me. Have I submitted a ticket for this latest cluster*#@$? No I have not, for all the good submitting tickets does, I may as well howl at the moon! Enough Dovetail! Either fix what I paid for, or give me back my damn money! You will not get one more red cent from the pockets of this little black duck!
I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. Sometimes we just need a moment for ourselves, and trust me, things will get better. Rick Astley Live 2022 Never Gonna Give You Up May 20 ⬘ Houston, TX - YouTube Let's listen to this and unwind!
In the time you spent typing your little rant, you could have submitted a nice well explained ticket.

Welcome to the Club! The derail issue which we have documented so thoroughly in this thread has not been addressed with a patch yet. AFAIK only partly and on SPG (as it seems with limited success, but hey this is DTG World) So, since hope is the last thing to die, I´m still willing to wait for that patch which rolls back the unfamous SoS "patch" from earlier this year. But of course, meanwhile not one penny more also from me.
If you've played the game and any associated DLC over two hours since purchase, you won't get your money back from Steam. Are you actually driving the trains correctly? I've been playing a couple of hours a day most days the last few weeks, different routes, different trains and not had any derailments or odd buffer behaviour since the last patch. That includes some moderate speeding and none too gentle handling on occasion either.
That sounds promising. So, we just need that patch for TSW2 where the derail problems were introduced first by a time nobody was even dreaming of TSW3.
Is this on TSW2 or 3 OP? The derail patch for TSW3 is working great for me so far (touch wood). Driven a lot of German freight this week - especially on Dresden-Chemnitz with it's roller coaster hills, good fun btw. I did hear a clang from buffers on one of the wagon types which gave me a jumpscare tho.
TSW3 was likely in development for over a year, so SOMEONE was dreaming about it (or having nightmares)
I think dtg are just hoping that the tsw2 crew will give in and buy tsw3 because why else would it take so long to introduce the patch to tsw2?
I'm sure many people who have TSW2 have already done so, and more will as new DLC are introduced. It's also standard practice to support but not develop for old versions of software once new ones are introduced (hence Microsoft no longer supporting any windows version before win10 officially etc)
I get what you are saying but Microsoft made sure their previous versions of Windows were in a fit state before dropping support. And the last few versions have been free upgrades to customers that own the previous version. And fixes are usually very prompt. I just can't seem to think of any reasons why the fixes for tsw2 are still non existent, dtg did promise downtime for fixes. For tsw2, yet tsw3 gets the fixes and tsw2 doesn't. What's a copy of ms Windows these days £120 for the pro edition. Tsw2 on the other hand, £800 with all the dlc. It's not like dtg havnt made any money from it.
Well, certainly the general public had no clue until JD´s freudian slip. And that means something if you consider all the guesswork- and speculation championships which seem to be a preferred pass time on this board. Deceiving was also the "hiatus for bug fixing" fairy tale.
I don't get one thing: Add-ons Manager was released for TSW2 only - we were informed the reason for it was that most of the development was done for TSW2; Remaining Preservation Crew updates was released for TSW3 only - wasn't the development here also done mostly for TSW2 as Pres Crew was working on it more in advance of TSW3 release? Now with this derailment issue - it's seems to be related mostly with physics (Simugraph) so basing on such assumption I don't understand why it is being introduced for TSW3, but not for TSW2? I assume there are no changes for this between TSW2 and TSW3 unless I'm wrong which is quite possible
The derail bug seems to be effectively several different derail bugs, with one cause in the SoS patch physics changes but manifesting differently depending on an individual route's train hardware. I think fixes are being developed for one game and then ported to the other once they're set and working. Why develop from scratch twice in parallel? It's not surprising that they'd do the current game first. I don't remember why the add-on manager is starting on TSW2. Maybe because the PS5 64GB limit it's addressing was identified before TSW3 was a thing? IIRC, DTG said that work started on TSW3 around the end of last year. Not sure whether that was planning or actual development.
One could be forgiven for thinking that they are just waiting it out, until everyone throws up their hands and says " to heck with it " and deletes TSW2, buys TSW3 and moves on. If the fixes to BML, SFJ, OSD don't show up by Thanksgiving, I would assume they're not coming, period.
Bad example since Microsoft does specify well in advance when support will be dropped. TSw 3 was Basically released over night and we don't know when TSW2 support will be full dropped.
By "fixes" do you mean remaining Pres Crew updates? If yes, then these are (still) present on the roadmap, hence theoretically should be delivered at some point. Or removed from the roadmap with some explanation for such.
I don't think a business has an obligation to pay you back the $1,000+ for content spread over time, considering it's an issue on a select number of those, and only on a certain amount of instances. Good luck getting dovetail to say yes. And better luck getting beyond that when it fails.
No, I mean fixes as promised for TSW2. You remember the ones where we were told that DTG were taking a spell from new releases to fix derailment issues? Then we got TSW3. Now we see new releases for th big new thing but those of us who do not want TSW3 are left with a product broken by the company but not repaired by the same company. Seems to me this is a pack of shysters.
No I won't. Not one more cent from me. Don't own TSW3, don't want it with all its bugs. You make assumptions about me, based on what, precisely?
I have submitted many, many tickets and still have a broken game. Submitting tickets seems to me to be a futile exercise.
For someone who claims you dont want anything more to do with DTG or TSW, you do seem to spend a lot of time on their forums....
Not a bad example. MS drop development for a product well ahead of a support end date. I haven't seen MS (or many other companies) say when development will be dropped outside of security fixes
Sorry, you're trying to say windows Vista, Windows 7 or almost any version of windows server was in a "fit state"?
The OP is trying to get his broken game (TSW2) fixed. If DTG fix the derailment issues in TSW2 (started by one patch for one route) then I’m sure he will be back to a state of relative happiness. I’m in agreement, TSW2 need the fixes too. Once the Add-on manager is in TSW3 I may not require TSW2 to work because I’ll be able to have all my DLC in TSW3 but this leapfrogging of fixes means I’m still getting the issues as I am having to rely on TSW2 for my old routes and promised fixes haven’t happened in that game, while TSW3 is getting the fixes. Not everybody is going to get TSW3 so TSW2 needs to be returned to its playable state.
Trying to get justice for a broken game. That's the only reason I come here any more. I used once upon a time enjoy both the game and coming here to see what others thought and also for tips from other members. Alas, those days are gone along with the pleasure I used to get form the game. I just noticed in the announcements that even the last patch for the new big thang hasn't stopped the crashes. Even the bug fixes have bugs. I would be pleased if they could fix what I already own before trying to sell me new broken stuff. Seems to me everything they do nowadays is half assed. So my friend, away with your sarcasm. All I ever asked of them was to fix our game!
When you title your thread I want me money back, it doesn't shout out that you want a fix, it says (quite bluntly) you want a refund.... Maybe you should decide what you want, and if I UE crash on exiting is really upsetting you that much when it has zero impact on game play, you might want to re-evaluate your life..
This unfortunately, is how I am thinking these days. A sad reflection on customer service and they expect loyalty?
Lmao one of the funniest rants i've read all day "little black duck" lmao My sides are permanently kill
It does indeed say I want ALL my money back, however in the thread I wrote, and I quote: Enough Dovetail! Either fix what I paid for, or give me back my damn money! As to crashing on closure, this has nothing to do with me or my game. This is (as I wrote), the patch for the new big thing, which I don't own nor do I wish to own it. My point there was simply as I wrote: Even the bug fixes have bugs. Now, given that little gem, how can we be assured that my version of the game will be fixed? Quite simply dear fellow, we cannot!
I'd kind of given up posting on the forums for quite some time, when you've been around the forums and experienced TSW since 2020, you know that this TSW project is just a cash cow. A huge cash injection last year, Mr Rissik needs to spend more time playing train games! I maybe out of context here (and 'knowing' about family situations), but did Sam and Natalie venture elsewhere for no reason? I think they are the people that we call 'too good for their own good'. We're not all good liers! Love you guys! x DTG Natster | Dovetail Games Forums DTG Protagonist | Dovetail Games Forums
So shouldn't you title the thread 'DTG, please, most kindly, fix the bugs in the game or else I will very much appreciate to have all my money back'. Also although there are bugs and niggles I still think my money has been spent well and TSW since GWE has captured and not failed to amaze me and for that I thank DTG.
I'm a little tired of pleading for what should be a given. I do agree that in the main, the game is good, but why oh why do we keep running into routes/scenarios/timetable sections of the game that become virtually unplayable? Why do these bugs/niggles go unrepaired and the company issue a new thing, which it turns out, has many bugs that take some fixing. For example, why is the company issuing a new route for TSW3 when TSW3 is still suffering from bugs that were present from launch?
No game will ever be bug free but hanging up the towel isn't going to help. I want you to do something when you get an hour spare mate. Drive a class 45 on Northern Trans-Pennine on a passenger run with the window open and listen. That is why I love this game and I really hope that if you do this the spark inside you will relight so you can enjoy the game again and come back here with some constructive feedback rather than the rant which will get no one nowhere.
Well Champ, I don't know what your version of the game is like, but even on the NTP these days, with or without the windows open the horrendous clanking from the wonky buffers will drive me to despair. I wish it were not so, but there it is. So with 42 DLC, even the originals are playing up and have been since before TSW3. All I ask for is the fixes for TSW2 that were promised and I do not think I am asking too much. Either that, or my hard earned cash back and I'll cut my losses and remove a source of major irritation from my life. The spark is still there, the scenery is great, the trains are great, the variety is great, I just want it to work somewhat as it's supposed to, but that seems to be too much for DTG. If it were working as it is supposed to, I doubt I'd have the damn time to have a rant!
You on version 2, or 3? I have been driving all other trains on this route for the past week including the new journeys expansion DLC with no problems. All safety systems on, no braking speed limits, (in fact, in most instances, not even making the speed limit, taking advice from a fellow driver on these forums, "It's a speed LIMIT, not a target"), even driving this same consist from Aachen to Koln driving in the cab car, no drama. I've been driving for 1,664.5 hours and if I haven't "mastered the machine" by now, perhaps I should simply retire from the game? Place my tail between my legs and crawl away like some beaten dog? Not my stye mate, not my style.
I´m absolutely amazed that the OP has to plea and fight for something that should be (and once was) more than obvious: Don´t break things with your goddamn "patches" and than sneak away whistling into the air. Pretending nothing happened. Basically: DTG sold you a car. You knew it wasn´t a Ferrari, but it had all the subsystems to drive it around. Than they shoot* a fix (update?) into your general direction and you suddenly perceive that it has taken your brakes away. And again. And AGAIN?!?! Your car has now lost its brakes, DTG rendered two of four cylinders useless, and the steering wheel turns only to one side (left?). Hey, don´t be mad, just buy another car! Really? But suddenly it hits me: This is the reason why this ill-conceived business model still works so well. Because suckers like me spend always a bit more in this DLC, and then that DLC .... For a software that must be the most bug-infested piece of art* I´ve ever donwloaded to my PS. And as it seems, the successor is a worthy heir. But lessons learnt. Yeah! Pipe * for the sake of children´s mind protection
I booted TSW2 up and it's perfectly payable for the bit of obsolete software it is. I'll stick to TSW3, afterall I don't drive a 2018 car and moan it doesn't have the same features as the 2022 version and cry demanding a refund even though I've 40k miles on the clock
I think you are missing the point. I do not want the features of TSW3, never even suggested I did. What I want is what I paid for ..................a workable game with the promised bug fixes, fixed. Is that so hard for you to understand? How many routes did you play? How many scenarios? How many timetable trips? I believe that after being promised certain things by the developer, we should have them. For instance in the Koln to Aachen timetable trips, I replayed one again today and just before the derailment, there was the usual loud clanking of the buffers, which suggests to any reasonable thinking person that this is a buffer issue. We are now in November and after being promised by the develop[er a fix for SPG derailments for my game, there is none yet forthcoming. I have been very explicit in this thread that I don't want TSW3, and all I do want is TSW2 fixed as promised. As stated above, I think the game is good; plenty of good features, variety, scenery etc.. but continuous failures are driving me nuts. I neither want nor need fancy weather, flashy snow contrails, or electric flashes on the wires/third rail. Very rarely do I venture outside the cabin, so that doesn't impress me. You enjoy your next big thing, I'll be happy with this model restored as promised, thank you very much.
