I would like to write a few nice words about the trains from Rivet. This post is only about modeling in the strict sense, I'm not talking about physics, (potential) bugs, inaccuracies, etc. Based on impressions of the SBB RABe 523 EMU in SBB livery & Island Line BR Class 484 EMU. These are very nicely made models (I don't know if they are precise representations). I would just like to emphasize one thing: animation and sounds of the cockpit switches / controllers The standard presented by Rivet for these two trains is a top notch for me. Nuances like just-click master key, button actions (time to act), general impression, frame in default view, etc. Very thoughtful, very pleasant to use. GJ BR o7 PS they seem so soft
yes, Rivet Games are great at the 3D-models, but sounds and physics are still really bad. Would be nice, if Rivet could improve in the area.
The 1938 stock is also very well modelled but I cannot bring myself to rebuy it while the chronically bad sound persists.
And the ge 4/4 ii. The scenery of the route is poor but the train itself has soo many small details on it.
I agree, Rivet's train detailing is 10/10, I think many would happily wait longer for a product with good sounds/physics as well as models
I pity whoever makes their rolling stock models. Those people make such a great job, only for it to be ripped apart once it's filled with physics, sounds, and functionalities. GE 4/4 jumping on start, loudest coaches ever behind it, Class 150 with broken sounds and busted physics (fixed only to make it busted in a different way), Flirt introducing a new safety system that is completely non-functional, 38 Stock with no running sounds when coasting... Maybe Br 204 is spared, but I've heard the sounds are not accurate at all. All nice looking models, though.
What is wrong with ETCS here? Apart from the LVL of implementation. I don't know how it looks IRL. Just curious. Give me knowledge
So, first the Flirt does not use ETCS on that line irl. It looks pretty decent in-cab, but at several places, it is just implemented wrongly, like jumps, where you get an E-break before getting an information that you need to slow down. And that is wrong. Then SiSte (swiss SIFA) is missing. Also the timetable has different unlogical things. On Luzern, all trains just drive Luzern-Sursee and back, but irl, they don't just stay on that part of line all the time. On Arosa, you are driving the wood-waggons uphill, while irl it is the other way around. Rivet should do it better. They should get some help for physics and sounds. Route building has gotten better over the last DLCs, so there is some hope. If they can get those things better, their routes would be the best we have so far in TSW.
It trips speed restrictions without reason many times. I got the route recently, it teaches you that when you pass the advanced information about speed reduction, you will gradually be forced to slow down to meet it when it comes into effect. I have played two sessions on the route, and in both, it went straight to the target speed, tripping the emergency brake. The speed reduction itself was still about 1.2 km away. It does this even in ETCS 0.
Nor the physics: they used diesel-electric physics on a diesel-hydraulic loco, so it behaves all weird and non-prototypically.
Not long ago I purchased the Class 484, and I really like the small detail of having to press a button before you can open the doors connecting the two cars. It’s also pretty cool how Rivet implemented sparks for the 484 before they were officially introduced in TSW 3.
