Not sure if this is a Steam or DTG issue, but purchasing Rapid Transit in the sale forced Steam to attempt a reinstall of TSW2 even though the purchase was made under TSW3 content and is shown as compatible with both versions. I really don't need an attempt to install 100+ Gb of now obsolete software. I had to manually abort the attempted install and hopefully it's now going in TSW3. Looks like it also tried to reinstall the original TSW too. Interestingly my earlier purchase of the Harlem Line did not trigger this issue.
I have the same question, but for the Epic store. DLC on sale only seems to be available for TSW2. When i buy these, will they also apply to TSW3? It doesn't really mention on the store page and they're not for sale ingame either.
Same thing happened when I bought Tharandterrampe during the last sale, not that it really matters to me (250/25 fibre and unlimted downloads) but I still caught it before it got too far in to the download (I had already uninstalled TSW2 basically as soon as the existing DLC ported in to TSW3)
If they have the TSW Compatible sticker on them, then the routes will be playable content on both versions of the game, as you're on the same platform of course. TSW Compatible sticker reference:
It works indeed in TSW3 when i buy the TSW2 sale (just got to restart epic though) but the sticker is nowhere to be seen in the epic store not in the details either
That is very odd, my store page has all the stickers on for the thumbnails - but they are missing it in the individual pages.
i think i figured it out, for example the harlem line: - if you go to the addons for TSW3, the shield appears, but the dlc isn't on sale - if you go to the addons for TSW2, the shield does not appear, but the dlc is on sale very confusing
Just heard back, there will be two versions of each route as the Epic Games Store kept the original TSW2 routes instead of merging them, but only one of them shows the discount - if you purchase the discounted one you will be able to claim the other for free. Example below is with the Harlem Line: We are currently messaging Epic to apply the discount to both versions, and update the images so both versions have the compatibility stickers, but for now you can be sure purchasing any discounted content that has a matching TSW3 version will offer you the entitlement in both games
