My route suggestion is London Marylebone to Birmingham moor street and Aylesbury via princes risbrough . the route is 112 miles long and would feature: GWR castle class GWR 14xx and autocar GWR 28xx GWR hall class GWR king class and GWR pannier tank
Ohh... wait hang on..... I don't know if I'd like that... I think a 68 would be far better but more steam is good aswell.
could you please give more infomation such as: 1. A list of the stations 2. Any possible layers? 3. A map of the route 4. photographs of the stations and the rolling stock.. All in all, Its a great suggestion (would love a GWR steam route for TSW3) however, the route might be a tad to long for TSW3
Personally I would prefer this suggestion if set pre 1939 in order to include the long forgotten branch line to Uxbridge High Street from between West Ruislip and Denham. Many of the old branches that no longer exist seem to get forgotten or neglected and games like this are missing the opportunity to recreate history for those of us too young to have experienced the real thing. I can think of various lines no longer in existence on this line and various others that could be recreated.
The station list is London Marylebone, Canfield Place, Wembley stadium, Sudbury and harrow road, Sudbury hill harrow, Northolt park, South ruislip, West ruislip, Denham, Denham golf club, Gerrards cross, Seer green and Jordans, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, West Wycombe, Saunderton, Princes Risbrough, Ilmer halt, Haddenham, Dorton halt, Brill and ludgershall, Blackthorn, Bicester North, Ardley, Aynho park, Kings Sutton, Banbury, Copredy, Southam road and harbury, Leamington Spa, Warick, Hatton, Lapworth, Dorridge, Widney manor, Solihull, Olton, Acocks green, Tyesley, Small heath, Bordesley, Birmingham moor street For the Aylesbury part, Princes Risbrough, Monks Risbrough, Little Kimble And Aylesbury For layers, you could use the class 101, WSR class 47 and the class 20 (once in livery designer) A map of the route:
Why not make it like train simulator classic where Chiltern Mainline came with 168/165 Class 68 Mk3 and separate purchase 7f. For the 1960s you might as well include diesel trains Class 08 40 45 & 101 DMU.
This is a good suggestion but the route was heavily modified by BR and it looks better in the 1960's as it was not modified and all the stations were in original condition
In the 1960s,the trains on this route would have run from Paddington, not Marylebone. They would have left the GWML just after Old Oak Common, picking up the route described at South Ruislip. They would have run through Moor Street to Birmingham Snow Hill, Wolverhampton Low Level and Shrewsbury, then on to Aberystwyth/Pwllheli or Chester and Birkenhead. The route was dieselised quite early with Westerns and Brush Type 4s replacing Kings and Castles. Apart from local trains, trains from Marylebone took the Great Central mainline after Princes Risborough. These were quite an eclectic mix including classes A3, V2, L1 and Black 5s. Flying Scotsman worked this route for a while.
Speaking of the type four locomotives on Chiltern Main line 1960s do we have them in game or not? If yes then those should count for the following routes that have them Huddersfield line NTP Tees Valley and West Somerset Railway in terms of Achievement. Best example for this is that the Blue version NTP ends up counting for WSR Class 47 achievement
I did not know that because I thought that they only went to Paddington if Marylebone was closed however I have found that this is not the case as it was great central up until northolt junction
