Getting 40-50 fps on an RTX 2070. About the same I would get on any tiles with a decent amount of scenery on default DTG routes.
This is looking fantastic. As a Kent resident I’m looking forward to seeing more of my local network in the game! Oh and it’ll be good to finally have somewhere to drive the 707
Progress on Sevenoaks. I'm still working on distant scenery between Dunton Green and Sevenoaks, but other than that the route is getting pretty close to being complete for its first version.
Excuse my French but holy LOVE!!! Amazing job! Great work overall I can’t wait for the project to come out to the Public!
Absolutely stunning, can't wait to do all sorts of runs and scenarios on it. Any idea on how close the imminent release is?
In an ideal world within a week. But I don't think that's possible due IRL exams being a priority for me atm. I work on this in my downtime, and it's not far off from being in a releasable state. I'm pretty sure it will be out before christmas. No promises though.
Just a quick q. What’s you discord name,I think I’ve seen your screenshots? Vaffelen are you putting in stop markers etc?
If you've seen my screenshots you've most likely seen them in the train sim community discord. Vaffelen is just a random name I gave myself on these forums years ago. Yes, I have put in stop markers as accurately as I can based upon cab ride videos etc.
This route is looking great nice to see someone doing the route from Cannon Street to Sevenokas I got a few things dose this route got Charing Cross and where would you go after this like to Dartford or Dover via Ashford with Maidstone East or Headcorn
The route does have Charing Cross. After I've completed Sevenoaks to Tonbridge I will decide on whether I'll continue with Swanley to Sevenoaks or Deptford to Dartford I think. I'd love to somehow get all the way to Ashford and onwards to Dover, but at the moment it's not feasible. Especially since recreating Ashford without a dedicated model will be difficult. Going to Dover and Ramsgate will be possible if one does split scenarios between this route and the New CML at Faversham. Anything beyond Faversham has been taken out of this route as I fear it will be a bit unstable. Plus the track beyond Faversham is technically from Danny's Workshop Merge. All in all it would make sense to go for Swanley to Sevenoaks first, but I lack resources for this section of track, so we'll see what I end up doing. For the North Kent Line I have plenty of resources to work with.
Ah ok as I am doing the route that got all 3 of the Dartford Loops Line, I am debating to continue making it or move on to another route
I see. I wasn't aware that this was being worked on! I have just built the three lines out to Deptford(track to Greenwich), Blackheath and Lee for portal. All with scenery so far.
Hi there Vaffelen, so what’s going on with London Bridge? Are u gonna keep the old one or try to make a better one?
Taking a look at the shots and videos you've sent here, it really looks like a true godsend that I've been absolutely dreaming of for over 5 years. I've travelled up the 1066 line to Charing Cross absolutely tons of times, and I can definitely say you've created a second to none looking map and experience for people in the train sim community who have wanted to operate Southeastern services for years. It'll be great to see future iterations, updates and improvements of any area you've not left your mark on! Yes, there has been Dover, Chatham, Tonbridge and all those lovely places with scenery (and even some without), but visually, you've taken on the absolute core of the Southeastern network by putting your heart and soul into Charing Cross and Cannon Street without using custom models. Third party map creators like yourself are incredibly under-rated and talented, and I absolutely hope you get the true appreciation you deserve towards your commitment of the map. I very eagerly look towards all releases of this project, and good luck with your exams, they're definitely a priority.
Thank you for the kind words! The first release will probably be in mid-December London Bridge is currently in its South London Network layout, with some minor modifications that make modern day scenarios more manageable. It just about works, although some AI services will have to sit and wait for a clear platform. I do want to rebuild it with its new layout, but that's not a priority at the moment. So yes, I want to try to make a better one one day. I'm sorry but I do wish to fill in the scenery of the route myself. I want to avoid having duplicates of my route out there after having spent almost 2 years on this project. It's still a work in progress and will be so for a while. I still encourage you to continue working on your route, as route building as a whole is a fun time. All I ask is to not merge my route
I've been working a bit on Hildenborough. The section between the Sevenoaks Tunnel and Tonbridge won't be 100% in terms of scenery by the time of release, but I will do my best to make it look decent!
Still looks a hell of alot better than i could do. Looking forward to release. Not sure if you have listed this yet but any idea of requirements thus far?
Vaffelen, you have amazed me! Can't wait to give this a drive! Like many I'm sure, I've been eagerly anticipating a route with Charing X and Cannon Street for the more local services. And now with AP's Class 700 Enhancement, at least we now have reason to use the Southeastern livery more! Also there is a reskin for the Class 378 online which is an amazing replica for the Class 376 which will look amazing on this route! So excited for this, keep up the amazing work!
The two maps below shows the extent of the route at the moment. The second map has a legend which show what is what. Anything beyond Faversham will now be part of this route. The newest status of the route is that Charing Cross to Tonbridge now has scenery!
Oh wow how close to you are of finishing this route and what place of where you will releases like ats workshop and Nice to see the North Kent Lines in ts it one last line for the class 700 and would you add the loop via Sidcup and Bexleyheath to
I'm very close to releasing it on the steam workshop. As in before christmas. The North Kent line is just track for, but will be worked on after the first release. Both the Bexleyheath and Sidcup loops are in my plans.
Has come from quite some way to get to where you are now. Massive bravo and I'm sure some are in agreeance you deserve more than a pat on the back
Your work looks stunning How does your track look so good ? This model doesn't look like DTG's or the AP track EP one.
Fantastic work. Love the thought of having that whole route from Charing X and Cannon St down to Tonbridge finally! I guess after this release, filling in the missing bit of the North Kent scenery and signals will be next? Can't wait for that bit!
It's retextured AP track. Default DTG track and/or AP track will work fine with this route. Filling out the scenery for the North Kent line will probably be what I do next. There is the option to do Swanley to Sevenoaks too, but I lack resources such as cab ride videos for this section, unlike the North Kent line which has cab ride videos in both directions.
It's this patch but it can look weird on some setups (see screenshot). Vaffelen has got it looking superb on his.
I have found a cab ride video of the line via Bat and Ball Cricklewood to Sevenoaks class 319 cab ride - YouTube
Oh boy that's history right there. It could be of use to get an idea of the lineside scenery despite its age.
Bloody hell, nice work, I so can't wait to drive trains up and down the Dartford Line.... Something we have not been able to do in TS before. Keep up the hard work!
Key things to note when dealing with 3rd parties is this: It'll be done when it is done. If we get it this side of Xmas - Brilliant, if we don't well it doesn't matter. End of the day from the screenshots posted it looks magnificent and I for one would rather have it looking amazing than rushed out
Here's a draft for how the steam workshop page might look, for those who are interested! It's not out YET, but I imagine it's not gonna be long now. Still work in progress. WIP Southeastern Network: SEML, Mid-Kent Line and Bromley North Branch This is a work in progress route, in a close to finished state. A lot of effort has gone into to trying to make the route look as accurate as possible, but do not expect payware quality/perfection. This is an entirely freeware project performed in my spare time. Route description: This route adds The Southeastern Mainline from London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street to Tonbridge/Paddock Wood. It also includes The Mid-Kent Line to Hayes and The Bromley North Branch from Grove Park to Bromley North. This has been achieved by merging the new Chatham Mainline (excluding anything west of Faversham to improve stability), the northern part of the South London Network, the Medway Valley Line and parts of London to Faversham. The route has been worked on for two years and was initially just going to be The Bromley North Branch but has since expanded to encompass more than that. Track for Swanley to Sevenoaks and The North Kent Line are also included, although without scenery or signaling at this time. This will hopefully come at a later date. The setting of the route is between 2012 and 2022. This is due to the span of where references has been taken from. London Bridge is also in its old layout which complicates things a bit. Requirements: - Chatham Main Line - London-Gillingham - Chatham Main & Medway Valley Lines - Chatham Main Line: London Victoria & Blackfriars - Dover & Ramsgate - London-Faversham High Speed - South London Network - Portsmouth Direct Line: London Waterloo – Portsmouth Credits and resources Please let me know if I have forgotten to give someone credit! - Dovetail Games and the people involved in making the original routes and assets. - Danny at DTG who originally layed the track for Blackfriars to Loughborough Junction in the New CML for his South London and Thameslink. And Lower Sydenham which was added as an extra in the New CML. - Cab ride videos for lineside and station layout references was sourced from these YouTube channels: https://www.youtube.com/@emmo999 https://www.youtube.com/@BPMR - Speed limits and track layouts: Network Rail’s Sectional Appendix. - Signal placement/names: OpenTrainTimes. - Lineside and distant scenery: Google Maps in game API and Google Maps’ 3D view. - Myself for laying the new track and placing the new scenery in the route. New Stations List (22) - London Charing Cross - Waterloo East (Track existed from the new CML, but it has received makeshift scenery in this route.) - London Cannon Street - Deptford - St Johns - Lewisham - Blackheath - Ladywell - Hither Green - Lee - Grove Park - Elmstead Woods - Sundridge Park - Bromley North - Elmers End - Eden Park - West Wickham - Hayes - Chielsfield - Knockholt - Dunton Green - Sevenoaks - Hildenborough What to expect At the start of building the route I had no route building experience, thus one can see that the earliest parts of the route hasn’t aged that well. The track laying and gradients aren’t perfect for The Bromley North Branch and Hither Green to Elmstead Woods, but it’s perfectly drivable and has working signaling. On the other hand, newer parts of the route like The Mid-Kent Line and Chelsfield down to Tonbridge has much better track laying with super elevation, and closer to accurate gradients. Wishlist/To do list - Fix rough track in certain places. - Start working on The North Kent Line or Swanley to Sevenoaks. - A more comprehensive quick drive. - Rebuild London Bridge and surrounding track infrastructure. Known major inaccuracies - The South London Network is about 150 meters offset from the google maps overlay. Because of this New Cross to St Johns is about 200 meters longer than in real life. The same goes for Nunhead to Lewisham, and Deptford to Greenwich (Greenwich does not have scenery yet). - Siding naming and numbering. For the cases where I did not manage to find accurate sources for this I applied what I saw as the most fitting. - Bromley North Gradients. I am aware that The Bromley North branch has inaccurate gradients in this route. This was the first track I ever layed in train simulator, this it’s not up to par with newer track. Notes to scenario creators Due to London Bridge being in its old layout it’s difficult to funnel both Southeastern and Thameslink trains through it. Thus, I have created makeshift platform (7) to allow for 2 platforms in each direction. What recommend is to use platforms 4 and 5 for down services from Charing Cross and Blackfriars, and 6 and the makeshift 7 for up services to Charing Cross and Blackfriars. 2 part scenario tips: Since anything east of Faversham isn’t included in the route for stability, I recommend to do 2 part scenarios for services from Charing Cross/Cannon Street to Dover or Ramsgate, splitting the scenario at Faversham. And then continuing on in the new CML. The same goes for scenarios/services bound for Tunbridge Wells or Hastings, where you can split the scenario at Tonbridge, and continue on The 1066 Line by Backdated Train Sim. In areas with many crossovers it’s wise to use go via markers to avoid trains zigzagging between the fast and slow lines. Feedback Any feedback is appreciated! Good or bad. Enjoy.
Now I really can't wait to drive this!!!! Finally more kent lines added to TS. Eventually will you be able to drive to Dartford and beyond?
Oooooooooooooooooooooooh, now that would be brilliant... and there's so many ways to get there, via Dartford, via Bromley South and Rochester or Ashford via Tonbridge
