Hi, I just got a PS5 and I am wondering if I should play TSW3 on the PS4 version or the PS5 version. I noticed that all my progress will start from 0 if I’m using the PS5 version. I know progress doesn’t really matter but it still feels dumb to start from 0. Does the PS4 version running on PS5 look much worse than the PS5 version running on the PS5? What are the most noticeable differences?
I will soon be able to call a PS5 my own too. My opinion is that if you already have better hardware, you should use it. You can install and play the PS4 version, but it doesn't have all the layers and often has muddy textures. Of course, the hard-earned progress is then gone, but unlocked mastery rewards and uploaded liveries you get back. Also, the addon manager will be coming soon. So the way is clear for real next gen gaming...
Welcome to the world of limitless gaming, well that's what Sony would have you believe, Unfortunately as most of us know that's not the case, With a 65gb DLC limit for the PS5 and a 50 DLC Item limit for the PS4. It doesn't look good for games like TSW with loads of DLC. But I would have to say if you play with the PS4 version of TSW on the PS5 then you will at least get 60fps and that's about it. You are much better getting the PS5 version and starting afresh (as much as a pain in the arse that sounds). The thing is you soon make in roads into your level. I am on about level 149 on the PS5 version. The PS5 version looks a lot better and clearer. Although it looks better IMHO on the Series X. Don't get me wrong I love the PS4 and 5 but the Series X does optimisation of TSW 3 a bit better than the PS5. I am not getting into a this is better that is better post. Its just what I have noticed whilst playing the same route and service / scenarios on both consoles. Personally I recommend going with the PS5 version as you will get the correct consists, layers* and services. for the routes you have installed. * if you have routes that have optional layers from routes that are not installed due to the 65gb limit then obviously they will not show. On the PS4 pro version of TSW 3 I have 50 items of DLC 1 x USA route and loco DLC and then all the rest of the DLC's are the Uk and German routes and associated rolling stock. The PS4 version of TSW 3 (on the PS5) I have 64 items of DLC but only 62 showing as I have hit the DLC quantity limit. On the PS5 I have about 15 routes and items of dlc. Roll on the the Content Manager!! Hentis
That is the first bet I´d like to lose: DTG is not capable to develop such a complex tool like that Addons Manager. Let alone hassle and bug-free, AND retrofit.
I play the Ps4 version on ps5 it's a lot smoother and just a lot nicer play. The ps5 version is poor in performance and not optimized. Give me 60fps smooth driving all day long over ps5 stuttering. And just a thought when tsw2 first came out on the ps5 it was very smooth and a joy to play and over time the performance has got worse. And as for tsw3 on ps5 I don't even play it anymore it's emersion breaking its so sad. So yes Ps4 version of tsw2 and tsw3 play lovely on a ps5.
