Snellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen is a nice route to build upon as it's located near the Belgian boarder.

The Belgian Train infrastructure is very interesting and a large one to include in this game.

    Train operator : NMBS/SNCB
    Rail operator: Infrabel

With a large range of different trains divided in Push-pull coaches, EMU's, and locomotives (Electric and Diesel powered).

This route would run from Aachen Hbf all the way to Brussels-South which is Belgium's international train hub. Brussels is a very sophisticated area coming close to Munchen hbf. With many signals and routes coming together here, which provides oppertunities for a lot of AI controlled trains and even services for local trains and the main high speed trains.

So back to Aachen Hbf wich we already know is a stop for the ICE3m (br403) high speed train. This train (on this route) runs from Frankfurt (Main)Hbf to Brussels-South stopping at: Frankfurt Flughafen, Köln Hbf, Aachen Hbf crossing the border on a high speed line into Liège-Guillemins, Brussels-North and Brussels-South as final destination for this train. This also includes a power change on the border.

Liège-Guillemins is the first station you meet in Belgium. From here the possibilities become much greater. Here we can look at the local trains from Belgium. Trains which also cover the high speed line to Brussels.
When the ICE runs at 250km/h, the local InterCity trains will run at 200km/h over High Speed Line 2. This line starts slightly after the station called Ans and covers more than 60Km to Leuven where you meet a big station as well, the high speed trains always skip this station, only in some rare circumstances a Thalys (TGV) or ICE train will pick up passengers here.

The local InterCity trains cover more stations starting in Liège-Guillemins and stopping at: Ans, Leuven, Brussels-North, Brussels-Central and Brussels-South and than moving further to the Belgian coast (Oostende) or Kortrijk. They also run back in the direction of Liège and going further to Eupen or Welkenraedt which is located in the German community of Belgium.

As an extra branch you should include ordinary line 36 which is used for freight and local passenger services operated by frequent stopping trains and longer distance trains. Used by push-pull coaches such as the M4 and M6 coaches and pulled by locomotives such as the HLE27 (old and used for the M4 coaches), HLE18 and HLE19 (Modern loco used for the M6, M6-200, M7 (Newest double decker coaches made in both EMU and coach form, coach form can operated up to 200km/h), I10 and I11 coaches (can also be operated up to 200km/h). Also EMU's such as the MS80 a more classic already renovated EMU brought into service in the 80s. and MS09 which is a modern EMU from the desiro family.

On line 36 we come across a lot more stations that can be covered all the way to Leuven and than every train included in this route will move onto Line 52 (Mainline across Brussels) to reach the end of this route.

So a lot of possibilities to consider.

The best train station's in the world, Liege and Antwerp !!!! Of course the Disiro should not be missing.

The exception is Alsace Lorraine since at the time of the railway lines in that area constructed it's written as Elaß-Lothringen due to the German occupation of the region 1871-1918 & 1940-1944. Trains from Paris going to that part of France have to switch track running at the former French German border 1871-1918. Belgian trains need Punktförmige Zugsbeeinflussung when Schnellfahrstrecke Köln Aachen sections are Aachen Düren Köln Ehrenfeld freight services on the other hand passenger services are cleared to Köln Hbf. Own Köln Aachen with SNCB HLE 17 Alstom what you would have done is actually drop ÖBB Baureihe 1016/1116 DB Baureihe 182 MRCE Baureihe 182 Dispolok Baureihe 182 at Köln Hbf then couple the Belgian locomotive SNCB HLE17 Alstom an operated all the way to the Belgian City of Liége from Köln Hbf. At Aachen Hauptbahnhof ask the signal man to change the voltage from 15kv 16.7hz Germany to 3kv DC Belgium. That procedure was done from the 1960s up to the early 2000s when SNCB HLE16 SNCB HLE18 Alston ran to Köln Hbf from Gare Bruxelles Midi via Aachen Hauptbahnhof.

Nice one! It would be really fun with the AM66 on this route, one of the oldest stock thats still running, only few months left for them... It would introduce also TBL1+ which is a really fun safety system! I think if it would be extented to Belgium, till Liege would be perfect! Lot of little nice station along this route till Liege, and just before Liege you will be joining the HSL again with the ICE3M

I agree and for the Commuter services there are Société Nationale Chemin du Fer Belge Nationale SNCB Maatschappij Belgische Spoorwegen NMBS AM08/MS08 S train Liége on Ligne 37 Aix la Chapelle Gare Centrale Liége Gullemins. One thing they can do is actually through running Köln Ehrenfeld Aachen Rothe Erde. The former will actually perform the job of dropping German electrics to Belgian HLD 55/62 diesel locomotives towards SNCB Triage Liége Kinkempois from Aachen Rothe Erde. Exception being NMBS/SNCB HLE28 Bombardier all the way to Köln Ehrenfeld from SNCB Triage Liége Kinkempois via Aachen Hauptbahnhof voltage change tracks. By the way you are the one who that told me about Belgian locomotives that are capable of running into Germany.
    Merry Christmas from Easton,PA area.

Yes, yes and yes from me, Koln-Aachen isn't much a high speed line, what half of it between Koln-Duren isn't enough, an extension to Brussels Zuid via Liege will be fully welcomed by me
