I’m on Clinchfield route and can’t manage to move my train, I 3 locos hauled, I don’t know how to set up the 2 in the back
There is no banking comm on the route. Basically got overlooked and left out which shouldn't have happened. Assuming you are driving the f7, you won't have enough power with the locos up front so you can't climb the grade. So you have to move to the rear camera, open the window of the sd40, set it up as a lead loco like the front and increase throttle to get traction and decrease if you need less power, etc. It's not ideal but that's the only workaround. Dtg don't plan to add banking comm to clinchfield so that's the only way you can complete those services
Since you said all 3 are up front, then you set up your driving loco as a lead (gen field, engine run, fuel pump switch on, cutin freight and lead and dead). The other 2 locos are trailing so the 3 switches off, cutout and trail (cutout and trail is already set up). And apply independent brake. Release automatic. Wait for brakes to fill up and slowly release independent while applying power. You have to wait for all the freight cars to release brakes. I will see if I can find the service and try it
Ok so I managed to move the train by making every loco in leading mode and applying power thanks to the windows near switches
That's the hard way (and not realistic). The trail locos will imitate whatever the lead does IF you set them up as trail -they are all cabled together
The first time I tried Clinchfield I couldn't get the train to move either. It turned out I didn't have a clue what I was doing! If you go into scenario mode and pick a scenario, you will get step by step instructions on how to set up the train and get going.
It depends on the individual train model; it certainly can be done with the CRR F7 and SD40. The flying "3" camera is the most useful for this.
Another thread illustrating how DTG managed to spoil what could have been one of the best routes and locos in the game. What makes it worse is that MP said it was " on the list to be fixed ". No sooner was the promise made than it was forgotten.
Well, that's not actually what Matt said. You can dig up the thread, but what he said was in effect "That's a mistake we won't make again." He didn't say Clinchfield would be fixed.
MP said: Banking comm doesnt work unfortunately due to a misunderstanding between members of the team - its on the list to fix. (my emphasis) In the mean time - use the 3 camera to position yourself outside the window of the lead rear set and drive the controls manually through the window - it's actually quite fun solicitr said: Agreed. This is a major bug which needs to be fixed retrospectively, for the F7 and SD40 in Clinchfield. It's nice to know that some future loco won't have the same failing, but in the meantime CRR has a bug which comes close to game-breaking: the
Oh the ats7 doesn't even have banking comm and apparently some services are underpowered so definitely had the same failing.
Then farther down the thread: Post # 9 MP: "Agreed, it should work, I don't know how it was missed and i'm going to make it everyone's problem to make sure it doesn't get missed again." Post #15 MP:" "again" means "next time we have a loco that should have banking comm, make sure it doesnt get missed" - or you could just misread it for the fun of it i guess. *shrug*" [emphasis added] Post #16 Crosstie: "Thanks for clarifying that. I think we understood your meaning perfectly. It's just that we're more concerned about this instance rather than the next."
Bend it, shape it, parse it, slice and dice it anyway you want, my friend, ground beef in, ground beef out. The words " it's on the list to be fixed " refer to the Clinchfield route. Your selective memory is a fudge of acrobatic proportions. The emphasis in my quote of your post is yours, not mine. Enough already.
Yes, because that is what, at the time, I though Matt meant just as you did. But then Matt came back and clarified: what he meant to "fix" was this mistake happening again. His post No 9 is pretty explicit: Clinchfield is never going to be fixed.
I guess this is the one thing that we can agree on. Which goes back to my original comment about spoiling an otherwise excellent route. Have a good day.
Only way Clinchfield will ever get fixed is if DTG gives it the SEHS treatment, in which I have a better chance of winning the lottery than that ever happening.
Sales figures talk. SEHS is possibly the most successful route ever; Clinchfield only ever appealed to a niche market.
Which is a shame, cause I still rate it as the 2nd best US freight route behind Sand Patch, it just needed 1 or 2 loco DLCs.....
I completed all the services apart from one (where AI is stuck at a red light) - it's possible to do the one you're discussing, it just takes some patience. Make sure you're using the sander on each power notch until the amps come down a lot. You will only reach about 3-4mph at first, but eventually you will get up to 12mph after a couple of miles, and then the grade evens off.
