Can anybody figure out what the BR 185 from SKW is saying when you go bellow approx. 30-40kmh? Not knowing German well I cant quite understand it enough to be able to stick it into a translator.
Any help to finding out would be greatly appreciated.

Türfreigabe, "Door release." Below 30 km/h the driver can unlock the train doors. (note that IRL, German train doors are not actually opened from the cab, but locally by the passengers and/or the guard. The driver just locks and unlocks them).

makes complete sense, its like the UK system for doors where they are locked and unlocked but by the guard on most units but are restricted to stationary brakes on.

Ahhh. I've been meaning to ask this question too, but never got round to it. Very helpful!

Also, when I tried moving the 185 in the Training Centre, it would apply traction, but wouldn't move, unless it wheelslipped. The brakes were released, but I could only move it in the snow because only then would it wheelslip. When I took power off, it would stop wheelslipping and come to an abrupt halt without any brakes.

While I was moving, it was shouting something at me. I'm not sure what, but it sounded like "vieleSchweizerBremsen" which means "very Swiss braking" so I must have misheard something. Can anyone help here too? The brakes were released (light loco, 5 bar, 0 on the brake cylinders)

Sounds like it could be ‘federspeicherbremse’, which would be the handbrake. But I’m not sure if that’s something the loco would communicate through speech and I haven’t experienced it myself yet.

Ooooooh I didn't think of that! If I get the chance I'll try it.

EDIT: Just tried it, and it was indeed the parking brake! Many thanks
