came up with that idea while play NEC with ACS-64. that 0.5% decline with maximum speed of 10mph required 11~15% throttle brake for me. and if there are function like throttle decreasing by 1%, that might result in smooth passing of junction area. plus, for some other trains, maximum brake sometimes went beyond emergency. so, shift+a/d/r/f/;/' and so on. keyboard layout is already filled with huge amounts of functions, so it might be hard to be realized but well... + in-cab looking around(just turning heads) with shift+direction keys. merely useful but there are some moment like "if there are..."
shift+a and shift+d are used for the Class 101 gearbox, aren't they? Personally, when I find the train brake or throttle brake are not accurate enough (applying to much braking force) I just use the loco brake.
oops, i dont' have that loco...loco break are kinda weak so i hesitated to use that, but well, i need to try it much more then.
They are, and probably very unrealistic to use them this way, but I find it does help me making small brake efforts, such as the slight downhill gradient when just leaving Boston with a 10mph speed limit. I've also been using it a bit too often on West Somerset Railway. Again, probably unrealistic, but the game doesn't penalize you for doing it this way.
