    Hiya!

Does anyone know of any ways to get the Hitachi Super Express train that was included with TestTrak in Railworks 2/3? I'm aware that the files have been preserved but I can't find any sources that are allowing use of these files, I am also very aware that the train was superseded by the Class 801.

I recently bought a copy of Railworks 2 from CEX (similar to Cash Converters), mostly for display purposes, but it had an unactivated code on it which worked fine, so I have all the routes from Railworks 2 but I don't have the Hitachi SEC add-on.

    Any replies appreciated, cheers :)

Edit: Something I thought I should add, I was given a disc for Railworks 3, but when I insert it the game doesn't bring up the installation process, the code on the booklet just installs Railworks 2.

The Hitachi SEC came with Railworks 3/Train Simulator 2012
    https://railworks.fandom.com/wiki/RailWorks_3:_Train_Simulator_2012

Amazon is a bit expensive if you just want the unit but it also comes with a lot of routes/assets

    You might find it elsewhere

I believe that even if you do get the code for TS2012 it won't work anyway as the SEC was removed from the game entirely... I think. It's what was said on Steam forum discussions but I'm not sure if I read it wrong or not - somebody who had TS2012 would be able to comment on this for certain.

I'm not sure if it's possible but it might be on the TS2012 disc you have - maybe try looking around it to see if it's there? I bought a sealed copy of RailWorks 1 to get the three fictional routes which was expensive but worth it because of the beautiful packaging (with four manuals) and the original versions of Seebergbahn, Hedborough North and Castle Rock which are compatible with scenarios from old DLC.

Annoyingly the SEC was quite a cool train in TS, it had the quite nice sounds from the Acela, a nice looking cab and a bunch of reskins available including the Southeastern livery. It did have some quirks, such as the 'fang-vision' previously available in the cab (which I believe was fixed either intentionally or by accident), the lack of a cab in the external model (it's just blanked out like a car from Gran Turismo 4), no passenger view and broken door sounds - inside the cab the old Pendolino sounds play while outside you get Electrostar sounds for some reason.

*Nice doesn't mean accurate, just that I like them.

I purchased TS2012 new as it was my entry in to Train Simulator and the SEC files are dated September 2012
And I still have the SEC as it would not get removed.
If somebody bought the TS2012 disk it should, in theory, have the SEC.

You mean this? RailWorks 3 Super Express Train DLC
    https://steamdb.info/app/65234/subs/
It is apparently decoupled from all obtainable apps and subs. So even if you add the key, it won't add the app.
Tried to figure out where it used to be, but it's prehistoric - SteamDB doesn't know about it. Only the name is suggestive, and that it was available twice later. And Youtube.

If you get a TS DVD it might install something, but the last few games I got on a DVD really just had a Steam launcher-installer combo ultimately asking me to type the key and it would install from Steam.
You could want a mega-bundle but it doesn't say CD Key so I assume it was store only.

If you are lucky, someone can create a minimalist TS installation for you with only this DLC ticked in, meaning you'd get the asset files and maybe a scenario pack. (On that note, I'd love to note how to install empty TS on a new machine without unticking 450 DLC one by one first.)

I kinda wish DTG would allow retired stuff to be claimed, but my realistic self says Steam wouldn't be happy with the traffic and it would compete with existing DLC. (Much of the old stuff is only available because of being widely used in workshop.)

So why on earth would anyone want it?
And don't say broken scenarios because with locoswap, tstools or the other one (I can't remember the name of this minute) not to mention 'F2 then cancel' I can't think of a single reason why anyone would go to the lengths and expense listed in the above replies to obtain it.

They do, it's just that this is the exception - DTG appear to have tried as much as they can to bury the SEC for any number of reasons, most likely licensing.
Well, the scenario wasn't actually broken and was on of the more fun ones in TS (I think you can get modern versions of it using newer trains if you want to have a go with it). The main appeal of it though is that it's a cool train DTG don't want you to have. It's a prototype version of the Class 80x which is arguably a more interesting and capable design, that has a 155mph+ top speed and has the FOMO effect all over it. A train only available for one year before being discontinued permanently will naturally have people wanting it. Just look at the Virgin Class 47 even though the Welsh Marches one was the same, or the lengths I went to so that I could have the fictional routes included in RailWorks. I even bought Rail Simulator to take a look at the old Class 47, 166 and Mark 1 models (and for general nostalgia too, but the lengths I went to for RS weren't that far, it's still available on Origin).

Fair enough, but just one possible correction the BMG 47 was the same model but dumbed down scripting as far as I've heard, I think the Hudd line one is meant to be closer to the original VT 47 but even then has a different file structure so any sound packs enhancements or the plethora of skins won't work for it (as is).

Actually, I don't think I ever saw the Hitachi Super Express Concept and I have a code for Railworks 3 activated on my install. A scenario in the WCMLN scenario pack actually requires it at UK Train Sim, and it makes me wonder why they haven't removed it since it's no longer available.

You may be entitled to it... Maybe get in touch with DTG?

They have not removed the Scenario at UKTS because some people do own the SECpack in the RSC folder
The same way the scenarios for IHH locos and stock have not been removed.

Would you be happy if it was something you used and they removed scenarios for it.

Someone told me that the item was completely removed and replaced with the other 801, so no one could use that train anymore. I figured that person was wrong. All the same, just create a replacement with the 801 model instead, and at least add that to the pack. I would try to Ts-Tools to swap the Super Concept out, but have no idea how to read the cars on that thing and tell them apart.

The SEC which came with Railworks 3/TS 2012 was withdrawn when London to Peterborough was released and the 801 was included.

Why should the person who created a scenario with the SEC have to go thru and replace it with the 801?
They might not own the 801

It is simple for you to do it
The driving car is the one with the Driver Icon - Swap both ends with an 801 driving car.
When you Edit the scenario it will start with two 801 power cars back to back.
Just add the required centre coaches to your consist.

When you describe it like this what do you mean? I was under the impression the SEC was only available with TS2012 and only that, and the Class 801 introduced with TS2015 would have come far too late to be a one-to-one replacement.

The codes for the cars are also very different. I can show this when I get home.

Cyclone has a scenario but not the SEC and wanted to use the 801 instead
It is not different to swapping a train you don't have - say a 156 for a train you do have - say a 158

Er, yeah. Bit obvious - does not matter what the car codes are if you don't have them
Have you never swapped one MU for another?

If you have a Scenario for the SEC but no train and you start it you have nothing to play.
So you use TSTools or Locoswap and Only Swap the end vehicles of the SEC for the 801
When you edit the scenario you have a two coach Class 801 and you can add the coaches to make the train up

I do have data on the car order on the actual 801. I would most likely rely on that.
