As a photographer I am rather frustrated at some of the decisions made of photo of the week. I see photos which are brilliant and only get a few likes, and some which are nowhere near as good, and they win! Why?.I know its not a basis on the likes, but its the same people who win the screenshot contest, yes there is some good competition, but for the life of me, wouldn't it be fair to give others a chance, yeah ok its only a pic of choo choos, but Traingeek 08 your pic is brilliant, it deserves to win. But I doubt it will. Cant you make this a bit fairer DTG. It just does not seem right or fair at times. Ive seen some pictures which are excellent in the screenshot comp, they are better than what DTG use to promote their work sometimes, or when they post stuff in the TSW3 news. And no I am not ranting, I am just making an observation.

Yes but they say its not about the amount of likes, I know Matt P is a photographer, but who makes the decision. It needs to be fairer and not the same people who win it all the time. Yes ok their pics are good, but there are better pictures taken. Is it down to composition, about how good the theme stands out, is it about the lighting, the subject. It really needs looking at and making fairer.
I agree about how the same people are winning, why not take a break from the regular winners and have a mix up like for example I win or someone that isn't a regular winner wins it for a change
I think it would also be a good idea for the winner to pick the subject for the following week too. And DTG can you sort out the shutter delay when taking screenshots please.
I haven't been on the screenshot contest for long, but I can't say I've noticed any regular winners. I say this having just won a competition a few weeks ago, so my opinion may be invalid. Let me check the previous screenshot competitions to get the winners... Winners: Dantechmanify me Dantechmanify Fear-Factor Tom Fresco gexuhang2 metrokaiser Dantechmanify I'm a railfan obviously Dantechmanify jasonpfc lewielevy WaveyDavey Blartthaniel42 CrazZyKiLLa That is what I got from the first page (September to now). Apart from Dantechmanify who seems to be a pretty good screenshotter, there have been no repeats, and a fairly wide selection of winners (12 unique winners out of 15 competitions). Admittedly there have been a couple of slips where illegal screenshots have won, and we will have to work to minimise those. Personally, I find the competition to be fair, not based on likes, and quite fun. It gives me an excuse to look back through my old screenshots to find the best 2 to put in.
The theme was Commute and therefore it was right that a picture with a lot of passengers featuring prominently won it. There are usually many great screenshots in the competitions but there can only be one winner each time.
See this rpb1966, people will argue your case, this is from a) someone who has won it before and b) someone who has a different opinion to me and yourself This overall is a fair argument from yourself here, I dislike the same people time and time again winning regardless of them not winning week in week out, that's why I suggest new winners they've never picked before in between the regulars like Dantechmanify and co.
That would be understandable though, I understand why screenshots are picked but how they are picked I'm confused over , hence my viewpoint, if I understood how screenshots are picked, my opinion would align with everyone else
Someone from DTG sits down, looks through the submissions, and picks one that a) follows the rules, b) complies with the theme, and c) is the best of them in their opinion. The third criteria is necessary because many screenshots will fall under the first two.

Well, what can I say, thanks, my original viewpoint I now understand is wrong so as I understood it, my viewpoint changed to everyone else's, its safe to say I'll probably win this weeks anyway unless DTG state on Monday otherwise
Is it me or does only 1 screenshot show on the TSW3 loading screens now? On TSW2 it would have at least 4 of them throughout the month. Anyways, yeah I've posted screenshots for the competition and gotten the most likes on maybe one of them but I've never won. Besides it's just for fun I wouldn't take it personally.
Yeah I think it is because they reset it over Christmas. Each screenshot should last 4 weeks which explain why TSW2 had 4. I guess we'll have to wait and see if that has changed.
Only 1 screenshot appears in TSW3's loading screens, dunno about TSW2 as I uninstalled it for obvious reasons, as said above my views on the competition has changed from near the start, sorry if you are regarding my previous opinion but having it explained to me, I understand it now and my opinion has changed
Yeah I got TSW3 for Christmas (brother and sister got for me lol) because all I was getting was the holiday special dlc screenshot on the loading screens. Yeah I just went back and read them, I was replying to the OP though mainly. Still got 50 weeks left this year you might get the chance to be the winner lol.
