    Hi everyone,

Maybe it is just me or is the braking on the BR112 incredibly slow. I keep overshooting stations or I need to slam the emergency brake.

What I'm trying to say is that when I apply brakes there is delay. This also applies to the cab control car

I wonder what your experience is with braking on the BR112

    Mike

Unlike many other trains, the brakes on the 112 are great: the lower notches are very fine, so you can compensate for a slight downhill slope, but you need to go into higher notches to bring the train to a stop. You just need to practice the stops until you get your sequence.

If you drive the M3A, for example, the first notch on the brake will bring the train to a stop if you try to maintain 10mph while exiting the Grand Central Terminal, so you have to flip between the 1st brake notch and coasting.

Thanks, I'll try to practise using the higher notches. So I shouldn't rely on the speed selector alone. Braking on the BR 110 in comparison is very direct.

Since the 112 is an improved 143, I'm applying the same procedure as given here.

My experience with the 112 has been mixed. Sometimes the brakes are good with only a few notches, sometimes it's really weak.

Try using the braking assist lever on the right side. Once I started using it I felt like I was finally in control. I usually just leave it on pretty much for the whole service, unrealistic as it might be.

The time it takes to transition from a power on situation to the dynamic braking is what always catches me out.

Why not try running it like a DB BR143 originally known as DR BR243
