The East Coast Mainline is an arterial mainline that runs parallel to the A1 Road. Located in the United Kingdom, this route has a distance of around 597 miles (The most northerly point served by the mainline).Originating at Kings Cross and ending at Inverness, it connects The South East and the capital with Yorkshire, Norfolk and Scotland. Electrification on the mainline occurred between 1974 and 1990 with the line being electrified at 25KV AC as far as Edinburgh and recently as far as Stirling, with plans to electrify through to Aberdeen. it also has branches through to Kings Lynn, Cambridge, Ely, Lincoln,Leeds, Skipton, Bradford, Harrogate,Hull, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Glasgow and Aberdeen. For Train Sim World 3, I am suggesting a route from London King’s Cross/Moorgate to Peterborough. Spanning about 80 miles this makes it the perfect route for train sim world 3 as it has a healthy balance of commuter trains that link Norfolk and Cambridgeshire with the Capital (Thameslink and Great Northern) and Intercity services that serve Yorkshire and beyond. Set in 2023, the route should be quite busy timetable wise. ROUTE MAP: TRAINS to be used on the Mainline Class 800/801 The British Rail Class 800 Intercity Express Train or Azuma is a type of Bi-modal multiple unit train built by Hitachi for the Train Operating Company. The type uses electric motors powered from overhead electric wires for traction, but also has diesel generator to enable trains to operate on unelectrified track. It is a part of the AT300 product family. Operational differences between the 800 and 801 is that the 801 is purely EMU. Class 802 Hull Trains Difference between 800s and 802s is an uprated diesel engine making for better rail performance Class 803 Similar to the 801 they are purely electric trains, with the operational difference being they contain battery power in case of OHLE failure PAGE 1
this route has been talked about for a long time its one of the must its already on Train Sim Classic and even has the full route to Scotland via ATS and to leeds i can see this route in the future for TSW but WCML must come 1st
Class 387 Great Northern The British Rail Class 387 is a type of emu passenger train built by Bombadier as part of the Electrostar family. A total of 107 units were built. It is dual volage meaning it can operate on OHLE and 750v third rail. The Class 700 is an electric multiple unit train built by Siemens and procured by the Department for transport under the thameslink programme. They are also dual voltage trains and serve on the ECML The Siemens class 717 is a dual voltage train used by great northern to carry out stopping services between london and stevenage. The British Rail Class 91 is a high-speed electric locomotive, which produces power of 4,830 kW (6,480 hp); it was ordered as a component of the ECML modernisation and electrification programme of the late 1980s. The Class 91s were given the auxiliary name of InterCity 225 to indicate their envisaged top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph); they were also referred to as Electras by British Rail during their development and throughout the electrification of the East Coast Main Line. The other end of the InterCity 225 train set is formed of a Mark 4 Driving Van Trailer, built with a similar body shell to the Class 91 locomotives but with only one driving cab. The locomotive body shells are of all-steel construction. Unusually, the motors are body mounted and drive bogie-mounted gearboxes via cardan shafts; this reduces the unsprung mass and hence track wear at high speeds. The locomotive also features an underslung transformer, therefore the body is relatively empty compared to contemporary electric locomotives. Much of the engineering specification for the locomotive was derived from the research and operational experience of the APT. Class 91s hold the uk speed record at a top speed of 162mph (261km/hr) STATIONS King’s cross Finsbury Park Harringey Hornsey Alexandra Palace New Southgate Oakleigh Park New Barnet Hadley Wood Potters Bar Brookmans Park Welham Green Hatfield Welwyn Garden City Welwyn North Knebworth Stevenage Hitchin Arlesley Biggleswade Sandy St Neots Huntington Peterborough SCENARIOS Class 800/801 Flying Scotsman: Take the 05:40 LNER Flying Scotsman service from north of peterborough delayed at a signal, non stop into king’s cross The 801 at 8:01 Take the Class 801 from bounds green to London King’s Cross and prepare the 8:01 service for leeds, taking it as far as stevenage Highland Chieftain Take this Class 800 bound for inverness as far as Peterborough, making a stop at Peterborough only. Excellent idea and if you have this route end East Coast way what will happen is that the game will start spawning the newer version more than the ECW DLC 313/2 sort of like SEH displacing the older ECW and GWE Class 66 versions more. Let me guess you did the requested East Coast mainline South King's Cross Peterborough. Class 700 needs AP sounds as opposed to 395 AC 444 DC TSC
DLC 4 Diesel Legends of the East Coast Set in the early 80s drive a plethora of iconic east coast trains loved by the older generation of railfans, master the tricky trackwork at king’s cross and drive dirty diesels down through the east TRAINS to be used Class 55 Deltics Class 47 Class 08 Class 43 BR Blue (Valenta)
definitely, the 700 sounds on tsc are awful, and yes i did, i’m not really versatile with ECML freight but i wrote down everything i knew
No the ECML needs to come first for 2 reasons: 1. If done modern day all that is needed is the 80x class of trains and a 700 to make the southern section convincing. From this the 700 can layer back onto SEHS and LC and the 80x can be used on most modern mainline routes in the future. This wouldn’t happen with WCML as the 390 and 350 aren’t very widespread across the network. 2. The ECML is just better in every way than the WC: faster, more modern, more scenic, plenty of variety and less curves and hills ! Also people who live on the EC are the best and luckiest people in the country!
"Via" ats wouldnt be the best way of putting it: That merge was made by somebody outside of ATS (A dedicated TSC merger) The only routes built by ATS themselves I belive are as follows: ECML to Kings Llyn, Fen line and Chat moss. There SUB only routes I BELIVE are made by high quality route devs - If any part of the ECML needs to be built by ATS its south.
Well I personally think the MML is way more scenic yeah - ECML > WCML. WCML is only really wanted for that pendolino lets be honest - ECML is wanted not only for its 800/700's but also becuase its an actually interesting route.
as much as i love the ecml i would take the west coast anyday to be honest, the west coast has bigger stations, more depots, more freight and is scenic, the ecml is still amazing but the west coast tops it. Only reason i want a east coast before a west coast is because the trains can be used more, and higher speeds and it’s practical, bust west coast over east coast, still love both of them a lot
this is probably one of my most in depth suggestions , i’ve given scenarios, and extensions and DLC set in 2 eras (Sectorisation/BR Blue) this is basically a suggestion for every type of person
i struggle to think of names for scenarios so i haven’t included that, but i’ve done everything else too
i’m gonna make a peterborough to york suggestion later today, gonna tie it in with this suggestion, i just need help linking them together
me personally i’d prefer the london - peterborough section as there’s more variety in services with stuff like commuter runs and that
at peterborough there’s also the ‘spital’ sidings which were built to house the 700s when they were introduced
You can also include LMS Jubilee no. 45596 Bahamas on the route doing railtours between London Kings Cross and Peterborough, just like on Southeastern High Speed Extended.
