Looks like a comprehensive list of improvements/fixes. I will likely buy this now, when the fixes are released.
Yeah looks very promising and resolves a lot of the issues, if implemented as described should make this a very good route. The two things that don’t seem to be fixed that I really hope are not lost are rain on the windscreens isn’t visible from inside and the carriage details, allowing for selective door opening not being available on TMS for PlayStation.
I’ll have another look but it didn’t seem to make a difference whether the wipers were on or off, which surely can’t be right.
Rivet's response is excellent. If it's well done, squash the bugs This would make goodness perfect. I am looking forward to enjoying the trip as it is an area that is not easy to visit. It would be good if the missing scenery was also fixed
It's a good start but am still awaiting the wet platforms before I consider purchasing, it really should be a basic feature in all new routes. Oh and not forgetting the real 385 sounds.
Why couldn’t they be this proactive with the 150/2 ? ? ? It’s still not got the correct internal brake rub, track joints or acceleration profile !!!
To be fair, Rivet aren’t reworking the 385 to be realistic, they’re just making it more palatable. We also don’t know how this patch will actually turn out, Rivet have updated the 150 numerous times, they just haven’t got it right. So it’s not like they just haven’t worked on the 150.
TMS stuff is being looked at - we had a fix come through a couple of days ago which needs testing. The rain on windscreen I'll pass on.
I for one, enjoy the current train physics, which have been shown to realistically follow the actual specifications, and am disappointed that Rivet is 'dumbing' down how the throttle/brake responds.
I agree. What is it with people wanting stuff to be deliberately unreallstic ? It’s supposed to be a simulator not an arcade game !!! This is one huge fundamental flaw in a lot of this game’s DLC - Attention to realism is so often overlooked.
Given that a forum member tested the braking performance of the 385 and it performed as expected, I’m surprised this is being looked at.
I suspect there is some overlap between the CPBC setup & breaking issues. All Rivet need to do is fix the bad setup of the CPBC & I reckon there will be no more issues with breaking. They did not need to mess with the breaking curve.
The 385 brakes fine for me, a wee bit different to the southern region EMUs we’re used to in TSW. You just have to recalibrate your muscle memory and use the upper braking range more.
I have found that the DAS is invaluable in controlling the brakes. I will go to 2 bars at 1.5 miles, 4 bars at 1 mile, then 5 bars at 0.5 miles. After that adjust as needed to stop close to the mark. Now this is when going 90+ mph. I am almost always early into each station.
I don't think that's what Rivet have done; I don't believe they've tweaked Simugraph at all. Rather they have adjusted the input subroutine- the keyboard/controller interface with the game, because as it was it took a very long time holding the key down to generate a useable amount of motion in the onscreen lever, hence sluggish brake application. This is a matter of crisper controls, not "dumbing down" the physics.
I hope this is what's happening. I mostly play with controller and without any force feedback it's hard to know where you are on the handle. It's easier with the throttle as the audio cues are more audible compared to braking. Also is there some magic to getting AWS to work on the 385? The "temp isolation fault" light won't go off. I've tried the usual remedies- i must be missing something obvious...
So a non-linear input curve? Anything’s possible I suppose, I wonder if a raildriver player can comment on how the lever travel “feels”?
I'm so excited for this big patch, ScotRail better agree to a recording session after the poor effort Rivet made with sounds but the scenery is fine, it's just the 385 which is the issue, no wonder why I suggested a 365 DLC for this route, but anyway the fixes better be on the ball or I'll be absolutely fuming
I do think that the responsiveness of the CPBC did need adjusting, it was a little slow, but I hope it isn't too damn sensitive now. And I'm still praying for a 158 scotrail to be layered on when MML comes in!
Skyhook aren't going to create a scotrail version of a 158. However, since the base model is available, a future Scottish route can be made with the 158 to then layer in as ai
I do hope that you are correct. I play with a RailDriver and control of the throttle brake handle is fairly easy for me to get the bars I want of the DAS. Want to add, the lack of reduce speed warning signs on the route will make playing without the HuD extremely hard. Rivet needs to go back an get them placed.
Just in the middle of a scenario, and I am feeling that the 385 as simulated has a fairly high rolling resistance compared to other units in the sim. This may be totally prototypical for all I know, but to me even when coasting with a slight down hill grade, the unit slows at a rate as if the brakes were ever so slightly on. Something feels off, but maybe it's just other self-propelled vehicles in TSW have *too* little rolling resistance... anyone else noticed this?
AIUI, in the UK "Morpeth boards" are only installed when the upcoming reduction represents a 30% or greater speed decrease. The rest depend on driver route knowledge.
Good explanation on UK rules, but they are not there when the speed limit drops from 80 to 40 coming into Edinburgh.
I’m sure I’ve seen speed reduction boards on BML when speed drops from 90 to 80 Mph… Also heard some of the speed restrictions on the route are not correctly representative of Class 385 speed restrictions, one such is over the Viaduct.
