This doesn't align with your previous comments.
Achievable long runs, fine but shouldn't be at the expense of... well anything really

I said achievable from the outset, but hey you carry on with your negative comments and your it can't be done attitude, maybe you can tell us all how many times DTG are actually deferring to your opinions on DLC before they release it? As it seems like a couple of others here that you feel your opinion matters more than other peoples.

It would seem your previous comments disagree with you.

Oh yeah, I see everyone of them said go for the unachievable, get a life. If a train needs to have the correct sounds, why can you mute them? If it needs the specific paint, why did they spend so many hours programming the Creators Club? If you don't like something learn to walk away.

Ah, the old "I can't make a proper argument so I'll resort to insults" technique. A winner every time I'm sure...

I think this post has run it's course...

The difference is that in GT and similar racing games, the only difference between a 1-hour race and a 24-hour race is how many times you go around the same circuit. Doesn't require any additional routebuilding at all. Whereas for DTG to build a 100-mile route would require a massive allocation of (paid) man-hours.

You make no argument, you just say can't be done, who are you to have ideas about my game, believe me if there was a ban this person from my forums option, you have already been gone, bye and kindly don't both with your negative can't be done attitude on future posts, cheers.

Please do quote where I say it cannot be done
Not being negative, being realistic. Saves a lot of disappointment

So you think designing a 170+ corner Nordschleife is easier than a 17 station 92 mile train journey between Edinburgh and Aberdeen then? lol

Not sure which route you're going between Edinburgh and Aberdeen but I count more than 17
    1. Waverley
    2. Haymarket
    3. Edinburgh Gateway
    4. Dalmeny
    5. North Queensferry
    6. Inverkeithing
    7. Dalegty Bay
    8. Aberdour
    9. Burntisland
    10. Kinghorn
    11. Kirkcaldy
    12. Markinch
    13. Ladybank
    14. Springfield
    15. Cupar
    16. Leuchars
    17. Dundee
    18. Broughty Ferry
    19. Balmossie
    20. Monifieth
    21. Barry Links
    22. Golf Street
    23. Carnoustie
    24. Arbroath
    25. Montrose
    26. Laurencekirk
    27. Stonehaven
    28. Portlethen
    29. Aberdeen
Don't know that route, but given how they normally do their German routes, it's very much likely yes
That and there are very few areas of the UK which have so little stations on such a long route with any amount of traffic, one of which I listed myself in a previous response on this post. IE agreeing with you that it CAN be done.
So ... maybe resorting to insults isn't helping when a discussion might actually be better

    Just thought of another one...

Reading to Swansea is only 14 stations. 154 miles...

Now there is a good shout, especially if they can find a way to link DLC, so it fits in with the GWR London to Reading DLC.

I used the station list of the company that runs the route.

    SCOTRAIL Timetable and Stops (Updated)
The SCOTRAIL train (Aberdeen) has 17 stations departing from Edinburgh and ending in Aberdeen.

SCOTRAIL train timetable overview: Normally starts operating at 05:30 and ends at 22:18. Normal operating days: everyday.

Yeah, unfortunately RTT doesn't put the miles on their GWR routes for some reason

That may be the stopping pattern of a particular service...
A few RTT searches for all day this coming Wednesday -
Montrose - Inverurie : Serves all stations from Montrose north via Aberdeen
Arbroath to Glasgow or Dundee : Serves all stations from Arbroath south via Dundee

So all 20odd stations on the line are served 6 days a week

When TSW was released (coming from TS) I hated the shorter routes. After playing a lot of time, now I don't care. I really don't miss the tedious 3 hours runs. The services and scenarios in TSW that lasts like 1 and a half hour seems like an eternity, I play and enjoy those but I don't want them to be a standard.

I agree with OP, the whole point of the partner programme was to take strain off dtg developing routes, surely with the amount of affiliates/partners in the partner programme dovetail should start to build longer routes as there’s less pressure to churn out content each month. I would love dtg to be silent for a lot longer, if we were getting longer routes in game

it doesn’t need to be released as one thing, this is where route mergers come in, start at Edinburgh, down to newcastle, a London to peterborough, Peterborough to York, York - Newcastle, that’s the whole ecml, merge it or sell it as a bundle, add a dlc for past eras/locos sell it as a bundle

The way they do mergers at the moment prohibits the very thing you're asking for
Unless they work out how to automate timetables (and they haven't even mentioned such things are possible) you'd end up with loads of different timetables and interactions etc
For the four DLC you've mentioned would need 10 different timetables depending on who had what DLC and what overlaps they wanted to implement

So just in case the OP chimes in again. It's not that it CAN'T or SHOULDN'T be done, its a case of DTG not showing they're in a position to do it, either technically or otherwise

then it can be done as a bundle , like what’s going on with the american routes, you buy the complete ECML, get all 4 routes for x amount of money until DTG is competent enough to do mergers

You are correct that is how it was set up in train simulator classic to do the merge you need to have the common origin point for all of them London's Kings Cross. Matt had a quote on this

I would rather that, than nothing. If we do wait two years, at least we have the partner programme

Something to bear in mind (although of course no reason not to dream!) is that TSW is limited by what will work on consoles. This doesn't just impact route sizes/lengths, but also introduces a horrendous matrix of QA/submission resource required. I'd love to see some really ambitious routes (or tbh even better, linking up existing routes with networks) but I don't think it's on DTG's radar.

I think they'd need to be knocking it out of the park executing the current size of DLC first. It's fun to wishlist though!

gen 9 consoles have the same power as most modern day pcs apart from memory constraints

The issue with route length isn't a function of computing power, since the engine loads and unloads tiles as the train passes through them, and this can be repeated indefinitely.

The issue instead is that it takes time, people and money to develop each mile of route. It isn't a fixed linear ratio, of course; stations take a lot of work, urban areas quite a bit, open prairie not so much- but the longer the route, the more work and time it takes to make it.
