Here are Videos of the American and British Berlin Duty trains
    US Berlin Duty Train
Does mention the Helmstedt Marienborn paperwork
    British Berlin Duty Train

BBC archives Has a DB BR140 Mainz Koblenz DLC locomotive being replaced by a DR BR132 original paint DLC RSN. The video is from 1981 and Helmstedt was electrified in 1976

    US Berlin Duty Train Caboose
My question is this does anyone here know why American Soldiers going to Berlin end up taking the British Duty train instead of the American Duty train which leaves Frankfurt Am Main Hbf in the Evening via Kassel and Helmstedt at Night? Arrival in West Berlin is in the Morning.

Thanks for the Answer and for the American Berlin Duty train does it have a Restaurant Car or bring your own food? One of the sections it does starts in Bremerhaven/Oldenburg Hbf to West Berlin.

It had a low-rent cafe car which dealt in manky cheese sandwiches and warm Cokes.
