Hi, this is massively off topic but I am planning on seeing (and videoing) Vintage Trains' "Castles up the Lickey" railour that is occuring on Saturday March 18th. This is the first time that I'm trainspotting at the infomus Lickey Incline. Does anyone know of any locations on the incline where I can get a great shot of the two tours? thanks
I wouldn't know where to go exactly but I am sure if you look at the many available youtube videos and google maps you will find 'the spot'.
I'm gonna try and see this one too, it's a tour double headed by two examples of my favourite class of steam locomotive, so I have to! I don't have a car, nor do I live anywhere near Lickey so it'll be too much hassle to find somewhere at the lineside, so I'm currently debating whether to see it at Worcester or Bromsgrove. I'd obviously love to see it pass through Bromsgrove working hard, however I'm leaning more towards Worcester as I'll have more time to get good pictures of the pair, as well as inspect the engines up close.
it isn't doubleheaded as far as I am aware. its two trains with 7029 "Clun Castle" operating the morning/afternoon service then 5042 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" operating the afternoon/evening service.
there's this place called Vigo's Bridge which seems to be a popular place to train spot but I reckon that it'll be packed!
The only advice I can give on the matter is that when you take the video or photo point the camera at the line and hope! That’s the tactic I take and works well enough for me!
They are working double headed on March 4th, a private charter from Moor Street to Didcot. I don't know if they will be routed via Stourbridge and Worcester or Leamington however. Once at Didcot they will be lined up with 4079 Pendennis Castle and 5051 Earl Bathurst, offering the rare sight of four Castles together.
I don't know about spotting but I'm riding on the morning service with 'Clun Castle' - very much hyped!
