Backdated?

Genuine question for future reference here today- are really backdated routes say like the early 1900s in countries like Austria-Hungary, the ottoman empire and the empire of Japan (assuming steam is on the table) possible or would it fly under politics or whatever? Genuine questions for future suggestions n whatnot.

 

I think it is certain that there will never be a 30s or 40s german route.

 

Well that's obvious for obvious reasons.

 

I would say the same (though not to as much of an extent) would apply to the ones you suggested.

 

matt mentioned these exact era’s before in a stream a long time ago, it’s their intention to avoid that era is basically what was said

though whether other “controversial era’s” is probably done, is probably on a case by case basis. Some routes you wouldn’t know anything about it, whereas Germany had Reichsbahn which shows more than others would

Edit: I also find other regimes/states in the modern day to be equal to 1930’s/40s Germany, but I can’t see the same controversy as much arising if they came to the game

An example would be that I think the war in Ukraine would make Russia controversial to bring to TSW, but even before the war I wouldn’t have regarded the Russian Federation as “Normal” “up to standard” type thing

 

Tbf even know I wouldn't consider many countries completely normal up to standard but for the sake of not going political I suppose that's a valid point. Very sad there will be no soviet era routes but oh well.

 

nothing has been mentioned on Soviet era, likely controversy on Russia will “calm” eventually, USSR like many others falls under a question mark left unanswered at the minute.

though to expand further I think DTG not only has to navigate the “potential” of a Country’s route with the controversy it’s known for, along with how far partners and licensing would tolerate such decisions, I think getting other companies licensing would be increasingly difficult should DTG announce a 1930’s German route or Modern day Russia (at the moment on the second, how long the controversy would last remains unforeseen) not every company would want to be seen as part of that regardless if us as players think controversy is relevant or Irrelevant side stuff

 

For the Austria-Hungary route DTG can do a route between Premzsyl Poland and Lviv Ukraine the Galician Carl Ludwig Railway. In an Austria-Hungary map of the Lviv region Ukraine cities are written in German if DTG digs them from an OBB archive of the Galician Karl Ludwig bahn. Lviv is written as Lemberg Premzsyl Premissel reason for those is that those cities' name in native language is hard to pronounce for an Austrian German speaker
